My question to GE support:

"Wanted to verify the Anthem ARC targets for use with my Tritons 1s, SCXL, and Supersat 3s. I have the Anthem MRX1120. I set the Triton 1s to full range/flat and the Xover to 80 Hz for the center, subs, and surrounds. I also set the max freq to 500 Hz. Just wanted to make sure that you guys agreed or if you had other suggestions. Thanks for your help! Mike

What do you think?

Mike

Full Range/No Crossover is the same as "Large".

Everything else looks good, still doesn't explain why there's signal on the LFE cable with no LFE channel (2.0 source)... I think whoever you spoke to at Anthem is misinformed. If you play a 2.0 source IN STEREO mode, there's nothing on LFE channel. What they told you does not conform to the Dolby spec, and their unit has a Dolby logo on the front, so... :)

Hi Chuckinator and welcome here!!!!
I know you didn't ask me, but IF you don't mind, I have the SC X and I love it!!!!
Dialogue, clear as can be. Movies, it is wonderful, music, it is awesome!!!! For the size, it is a tremendous player. And the sound just fits with all my other GEt speakers. It is a perfect match with the TOnes up front.
I guess, IF you have room and budget for the larger SC speakers like the XL then you should get one of them. In my case, the X was the only one that would fit.
I would say the XL should be AMAZING!!!!! And for a long time the XL was the big boy on the block, the XXL came quite a bit later.
Hope that helps,
Happy Listening and let us know what you decide?
God Bless,
Wayne

I like the XL with the Triton 1s. I previously had the original Triton 2s along with the XL and upgraded to the 1s. Even the dealer didn't necessarily recommend upgrading the center to the XXL.....it appeared he didn't think it was really worth the difference in price. Maybe your dealer will let you demo an XL with your system.

mnerenbaum ...we were out of town and I went to an excellent dealer and I listed to the T-ones he only had the XL center or the X to listen to. Said I did not need the XXL unless I played movies really loud and that the XL was a good match. The XL sounded really good but didn't blow me away. They did not have the XXL in stock or on display.

When we returned home from our son's place, I went to the local GET dealer. He had the XXL but not the XL. Wow, was I pleased I waited to hear the XXL. More impactful, beautiful blend with the T-ones. The bass had the "slam" in the big action sequences that I did not hear at the first dealer.

So I bought the XXL along with the rest of the system and have been very pleased with the sound quality and match to the T-ones.

Be sure, regardless of which one you buy that you lower the rear leg and extend the front two legs as high as possible to aim that center speaker up toward your ears. Mine hits me at the chest which was much better than when it was flat and hitting right below my knees.

It is frustrating to hear stories like this, but, I am very glad to hear you got the model that was best for you in the end. The dealer was correct in saying the SuperCenter XL is excellent and a great match to the Triton Ones. What they failed to mention was that the SuperCenter XXL is the ONLY model that uses the same balanced crossover technology as the Triton Ones (and Two+ and Three+ now) and is absolutely considered the best match for the Triton Ones (if it fits in the space and in your budget). The improvements from the balanced crossover, not the additional power handling (although a valid point), is surely what you heard in your audition.
