Rick, are you soley using the setup for music or for movies too? If so, are you using any center channel speakers, if not do you feel it is needed for movies?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Po

The setup is for movies as well as music. In movie mode it's basically a 5.1 system, with T1 fronts, T2 surrounds and SuperCenter XL center. I've never tried to run it without the center channel, but 5.1 surround has a lot of center channel content, like dialog...I don't know how it would sound without the center speaker.

Re splitting sub/LFE feeds, before I added the T1's, the T2's were the only subs, and I fed them through a splitter from the NAD AVR's single sub out. It sounded pretty good to me. I never tried feeding one (no split) vs. 2 (split) towers to see if there was a difference in sound quality/quantity. When I added the T1's and moved the T2's to surrounds (replacing 2 INVISA 525 ceiling speakers currently not in use, awaiting future ATMOS decisions), the installer (lots of new wiring up and through the attic), recommended, that since I would now be splitting the LFE feed four ways, that it may be a good idea to do it instead through a distribution amp (pretty inexpensive) to restore the signal to each of the four towers to the original, unsplit level. Again, I didn't try it with and without the distribution amp, but I am more than happy with sound quality, and of course 4 subs play with more emphasis than 2 subs, so I can't compare the bass levels I have now with what I had using a splitter to feed just 2 subs. I can say that I have ALL the bass response I'll ever need!

As others have said, whatever works for you. Have fun experimenting!

Hi, T Cobe

Sure. Give me a couple days to take some pictures and get them added to a file I can transfer...

Rick,

That sounds totally awesome! What a dream system...

Now does the distribution amp help isolate the bass response to each speaker? I have a hard time understanding it (is it front and rear only or is it front L/R and rear L/R despite the one subwoofer out) but will be more than happy to accept the good results!

Look forward to seeing photos of your setup, it's making me drool already!

Thanks
Po

Hi, Po

The distribution amp doesn't isolate different sounds to different speakers. It just sends the same common sub/LFE signal to each of the speakers, but restored to original signal level as if no 4 way split were involved.
