Thanks Bro T,
I will look for that movie, have not seen it, even though I don't have ATMOS, usually my theater gives a great, all around pretty darn immersive sound on the big movies anyway.
But I am happy you got them installed and running.
Try Deepwater Horizon if you can, would love to hear you take on that one.
ENJOY!!!!!
God Bless,
Wayne

Hey, T
Glad you’re enjoying your new heights and Atmos!!
I played around a bit with gain settings on both pairs before I was satisfied I was getting the appropriate height effect, so not surprised you needed to do some fine tuning re settings.
I just ordered IT based on your comments. Not usually a Stephen King fan, but gotta’ give this one a try.
Thanks!
Rick

Alright, going back now and watching some familiar material with the addition of the height channels. Indeed, the Deepwater Horizon sound quality is far more impressive with the height channels! Plenty of audio mixed throughout all of the Surround and height channels! This is definitely a good demo disk to show off Atmos.
Rick, I’m not sure if you’ll enjoy the movie, but I think It is even better in terms of Atmos sound and sound quality in general. I’m confident the mix will impress. I recently read a “professional” review of the film and they rated the sound at 100 out of 100! I wasn’t surprised. Top notch audio! Possibly the best I have heard since Rogue Nation.
Cheers,
T Cobe

Hi, T
I’m glad you’re enjoying your new set up!
Yes, I was impressed with the SQ and mixing in IT! Horror movies aren’t my favorite genre, but, well, this one sure kept me on the edge of my seat!
Speaking of great Atmos effects, you might want to add “Everest” to your wish list. The storm scene alone, with the thunder overhead, the wind rushing up the mountain toward you, the pelting sleet seemingly hitting all around....is worth experiencing.
Great to have you commenting/recommending on this thread!

I just watched "London Has Fallen". An action film with Gerard Butler. It's the first track I've heard in native DTS:X. I've used the DTS X firmware to upmix to height channels many times, but hearing native DTS:X is a first for me. I liked it!
No plot spoilers. Lots of action, good story, fast paced. The SQ was very good. Very immersive when the bombs are exploding, bullets flying by, rockets roaring past. all sorts of action from car chases to roaming gun battles etc.
Dolby Atmos seems to be the more common height format, but DTS:X sure held it's own in this flic.
Recommended.

I saw a review by Todd Cooperider for Home Theater High Fidelity, of a similar system to mine, including T Ref fronts, T1 surrounds, SCXXL, 4 Invisa height speakers, here on the GEt site.. He loved the demo so much he purchased it, called it world class. Not surprised.
It became his new reference system. He listed some Blu-rays he loved that the GEt's just killed. Some I already had, like Hacksaw Ridge, Eagles Farewell live from Australia. Didn't have Unbroken, so ordered and got this to try.
Played Unbroken. GEt's bring it all home. Multiple scenes with planes, bombs, aircraft overhead. Did love it. So real!!!
So far, my favorite Blu-rays to watch for SQ are:
Dunkirk (not in native height format, but DTS HD Master Audio is easily upmixed via DTS Neuro to include heights). No wonder this won awards for SQ! The sound track puts you there, so brings you to the event, and then grabs your attention, shakes your bones, even scares the heck out of you. Unreal.
Everest. Atmos Format, 3D and 2D versions. The storm scene bellowing up the mountain, enveloping the climbers.. that alone is worth watching.
Deepwater Horizon. also Atmos format. Great, if sad, action scenes, sound that just shakes you.
13 Hours, also Atmos. Again, actions scenes that completely envelope, gas explosions that roar over your head, etc.
Mumford and Sons, Live from South Africa, Atmos format. The bass!!! The music! The audience so involved and "into" the performance.
And, yes, Unbroken.
Still haven't re played Fury or Mad Max, or... in new speaker combo. So much left to listen to.
I have said before on this forum that the GEt's far surpass any local theater SQ experience of the same movies. Not even close.
Well, here's pushing the envelope even further. It can be breathtaking, IMAX like. I don't need seat vibrators. The GEt's shake my world, take me with them, shake me to the core sometimes, make me believe I'm THERE.
