Correct.

What an adventure living in the HT world can be!
Been playing with my set ups for days, did a factory re set on the Marantz, still no Atmos option. Had an interchange with OPPO, since the feed from that device is now saying Dolby TrueHD 7.1, not Atmos. Tried all the OPPO recommendations. No luck. Frustrating!!! Something in the Marantz/OPPO exchange has changed. what, dang it???
Any suggestions welcome.

Atmos is back on my HT system!!!!! Apparently the recent Marantz AVR firmware update changed something in the OPPO player/Marantz interchange. With some more fiddling of input assign options, Atmos reappeared. Whew!!!
So now I can play some Atmos Blu-rays with the new speaker/amp set-up and enjoy it! Just played a storm scene from "In the Heart of the Sea". Wow! I'm lovin' it. Room shaking bass. More realistic and enveloping sound/height envelope. I'm a happy camper.

Finished watching "Kong Skull Island" today in Atmos. Wayne has already given great reviews of the movie itself in the Blu-ray thread. Yes, I liked it also! Much more complex plot than prior Kong movies of Kong meets girl etc.
Re the Atmos effect: again, the sound mixers are getting better and better at bringing the height experience in as a natural part of the sound envelope. Thinking back to some early Atmos releases like "San Andreas", adding a little height sound seemed like an occasional afterthought, like maybe when buildings fell, or helicopters flew overhead ( an early favorite use).
Probably the two best movies utilizing Atmos mixing I've heard so far are "Deepwater Horizon", and "Kong Skull Island". I don't wait for the occasional height channel effect anymore. It's just part of the sound track.
Somewhat separate subject: I've been playing some old favorites with my new system. I reported on the Mumford and Sons' Blu-ray "Live from South Africa: Dust and Thunder" awhile ago with my prior set-up. It's also an Atmos sound track. Loved it before also. Great bass and SQ. Well, the T Ref/T1 combo just KILLS this. Bass was awesome before, just got deeper, cleaner more breastbone shaking without ever sounding too over the top.. Somewhere in a post GDHAL described how the Ref's don't overdo the bass, but when the track calls for BASS, well it's there, in spades. He's so right!
Having fun playing most anything....

Hey Bro Rick, so glad the ATMOS is rocking it with your new TRefs and the KONG!!!!
I did not want to give anything away but I loved the part John C. Reilly played, and his comment something about being there 28 years, don't listen to me.
AND
Great that films are making better use of ATMOS.
Wow, I bet that already great sounding Mumford and Sons concert sounds really terrific at your place.
I can't wait to come by for a listen!!!
One day.
God Bless,
Wayne

Been playing various modes since we got back a day ago. Missed the GEt’s!
Even cable tv sounds great! Especially when upmixed to 9 channel surround. Funny. Ads are most often surround encoded. And sports events. Watching Wisconsin/Miami at the moment, feeling like I’m at the game. Got a seat there, surrounded by game/crowd sounds.
Even loved listening to the music in the ads!
Who woulda thought a few years ago I could be sitting here in my house feeling like I’m sitting on the 50 yard line at the game!! The SQ is that good.
