Thanks Brother Anthem,
That is more like it.
Seriously I am mystified by your harshness problem mostly because it goes away after a few mins. That does not sound like cable break in nor rough CDs.
Does it still go away after 10 mins or so? Leaving the digital stuff on ALL THE TIME did not help?
Keep us informed if you will be so kind.
And you are always kind.

Dave, I can relate to the comments about growing up. But please don't use the word OLD, I resemble that remark.
Looking forward to more of your recommendations too.

SanthoshEapen, I love everything Dire Straits did. Saw them in concert one time, they were great.
Keep em coming guys,
God Bless, Wayne
God bless the child that's got his own.

What's playing this afternoon?
Rock/Jazz/Fusion

Larry Carlton - Fire Wire 2006/RCA Victor

Standouts: Dirty Donna's House Party & The Prince

Listening through Emotiva XPA-1 mono blocks...I'm impressed.

Fire Wire... great album! Larry Carlton is a super player that somehow gets lumped in with the Kenny G-ish side of smooth jazz. Maybe because he doesn't sing on his albums? Too bad, because he's done some great stuff.

Another one of those players who gets lumped into the smooth/lite jazz genre is Jeff Golub. His new record with Brian Auger is terrific. Called "Train Keeps A-Rolling," perhaps as a tip of the hat to his recent life setbacks. This guy is an amazing player. Look at his back catalog and the diversity of music he's played. Anyway, here's a quote from allmusic.com's bio describing what he's been through in the last couple years:

"In 2011 the optic nerves in Golub's eyes, inexplicably collapsed, leaving him blind and requiring a guide dog. In September of 2012, while attempting to catch the subway in New York City, he fell onto the tracks as a train was approaching. He was clipped and dragged by the train as bystanders tried to help. Amazingly, other than cuts and bruises, he was unharmed. Undaunted, the guitarist recorded a collaborative album with British keyboard legend Brian Auger, ironically entitled The Train Keeps A-Rollin'. The set was released in the summer of 2013."

Happy Friday!

Dave:

I'll put Golub's new album on my short list. I have 5 of his recordings.
Jeff Golub/Temptation
" /Dangerous Curves
" /Out of the Blue
" /Grand Central
" /The Three Kings

Sapphire Blue is my favorite Larry Carlton recording.
