No snap, crackle, or pop. Just a clean, transparent recording with rock solid imaging. No need to argue the merits of vinyl versus CD. I'll say I appreciate both and that each has a place in my system! Classic recordings like this certainly sound great on both of properly mastered.
Cheers,
T Cobe

Yes, Bro T. those were big shrimp, somewhat of an oxymoron that!!!!
OK, pardon trying to teach an old dog new tricks, but let me axe some uninformed questions about these streaming sites you guys are talking about.
Do any of them provide multi-channel music?
Do any of them allow you to download FLAC files of Hi-Res music? Hi-Res multi-channel music?
IF so, which I doubt, then which one would you recommend?
Thanks,
God Bless,
Wayne

Hey, Wayne
Yeah, those "non shrimpy" shrimp sure do look delectable!
Re music streaming services, it seems be a fast changing world, and I don't pretend to be current on all the players and their constantly changing/improving services. There's a whole raft of streaming options in the compact/MP3 formats including Apple Music, Amazon Prime, Spotify, Pandora, iHeart, on and on. Some, like Deezer and Tidal, also offer tiered services, with top of the line tiers able to stream FLAC lossless formats (Deezer Elite available only through SONOS in the U.S, and Tidal HiFi) available for about $20/month. I've read that Apple is looking at offering lossless streaming also. I don't ever see multi-channel music options on Deezer. POS seems to be the norm, as it is for most CD's also (though I upmix 2 channel stuff to Dolby 9 channel surround via the AVR in any case).
The only lossless streaming service I have used/tried is Deezer Elite, mainly because it got offered as an exclusive add-on service via SONOS, and I already had SONOS installed to stream my ripped CD music, and play other "lossy" formats like Pandora, Amazon Prime, Apple. SONOS now also offers the same add-on subscription service for Tidal.
Re streaming vs. downloading/playing FLAC music files off-line via Deezer, the only downloading I do is on my iphone for some albums/songs so I can play them without using excess cellular data while driving or walking without wifi access. The Deezer iphone app calls it's audio setting option enhanced/best audio quality available/High Quality (HQ). Deezer does sound better than other music apps via the iphone, but I can't swear that the "best audio quality available" via the iphone is always FLAC. It IS always FLAC when streamed via the SONOS to the GEt system, and there I can save songs or albums or playlists to "my music" for easy access, but it is not downloaded, but re-streamed each time I play it.
If I didn't have SONOS, I would probably lean toward Tidal HiFi because it is available on any device. Perhaps Pbgalvin can speak to what downloading options are available via Tidal. There ARE Hi-Res download services available also, like HDtracks, that offer downloads you can purchase, but not unlimited streaming. For me, saving music to "my music" and having unlimited streaming seems to work out just fine.
Whew! Didn't mean to go on so long. Hope this helps more than further confuses.... I've no doubt the Hi-Res music streaming/music downloading technology will keep expanding at a fast pace, and more and more options will become available. It's maybe like the weather, "if you don't like it now, wait a minute".
Happy listening!
Rick
