Hey Bro Rick,
Thanks for the comprehensive answer, it does help, I think.
But can I simplify it to this? Please tell me if this is right?
None of these sites provide multi-channel music, correct? They are all streaming POS?
None of these sites let you buy FLAC music files, correct? They are all just streaming (which will not work reliably for me halfway around the world)?
But some sites like HDTracks will sell me music downloads in Hi-Res format like FLAC?
I kinda knew that was possible, but wondered about these Deezer and Tidal that you guys talk about.
I want to own the music I listen to and be able to walk down the road during my exercise listening to what I want, when I want.
Thanks, God Bless, Wayne
God bless the child that's got his own.

Hey guys,
Wayne you have it, as I understand it.
Tidal also allows you to download for offline, but you don't own the music and if you stop subscribing I'm sure the downloads go away...
2 channel -> GeT Ones.R, Rogue RP-7 pre, Kinki Studio B7 Monoblock amps fed by Oppo 105D, SonicTransport, OpticalRendu w/ 200,000 tracks, Rega RP8 w/ Garrott OPTIM S3 FGS Ruby + Sutherland 20/20 phono pre, PS Audio Powerplant 20
HT -> Marantz 7703, Butler Audio T5150 amp, GeT Ref mains

Yes, Wayne, I agree, you have it, and Pbgalvin, I agree that if you stop subscribing, the downloads would go away. In a way, streaming services like Deezer and Tidal are kind of "leasing" you unlimited access to huge music libraries for which you pay a monthly fee, but you don't own the music per se. Downloaders like HDtrack sell you the music and you pay per download.

Whatever works, including buying CD's, vinyl. What counts for each of us is finding a way we're comfortable with to enjoy music! :) What I like most about streaming access is that it's kind of like having 24/7 access to the musical "candy store". I can browse to my heart's content, and when I find something I like, instantly add it to "my music", explore more CD's by the same artist, etc.

Happy listening!

Rick

John Coltrane / Coltrane's Sound (1964) -- Satellite

Stan Getz - I don't get Stan Getz - What is it about Stan Getz that I don't get? He plays the sax - I like the sax - he doesn't play the banjo - thank God - why don't I get Stan Getz?

Here's an example of why I love FLAC streaming capability: we just ate a simple pizza dinner at a local restaurant, and their decent sound system was playing the Zac Brown Band's song Toes. I liked it and wanted to hear it again, so when we got home I brought the song up on Deezer and streamed it to the GEt's. Decent bass became amazing bass, dynamics blossomed, treble was so clear and detailed. Instant gratification...

Dear Needing Help in Kansas

It seems you need some Aversion therapy. Recommended treatment is 8 hours of banjo music at 90db, followed by 8 hours of Stan Getz's least played songs. Stay strong! Help is on the way!

Sincerely, the Music Therapist.
