This is a fantastic cd, music wise. It's good sonically, but has areas that remind me of Miles Davis/Kind of blue (knarly sounding brass) Great bunch of tunes, though.

Sounds good, Anthem!

But is it a "Happy song"?? :woohoo:

New take on a classic. Listening to the Manhatten Jazz Orchestra's Best of Best, 1999-2006, on CD. This is another import disk with an enormous soundstage! Definitely a different interpretation. I like it but you really can't beat the pipe organ that is conspicuously absent.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Hey, Eiffel62

Have you had a chance to play some good 5.0 or 5.1 audio into your fantastic T1/T2+/SCXXL combo speakers?? I'd love some feedback on your impressions/what you're hearing..

Happy listening!

Rick, I have listened to some 5.1, but not as much as I'd hope for by now. I listened to some Bob Marley and the Wailers' Legend blu-ray in 5.1. The sound the 2+ improve over my old DCM TF600s is sooo much better since the DCMs lack decent low and high end. That was instantaneously noticeable.

I was hoping to play more by now, but my QNAP NAS 6-bay drive with 6-6TB WD Red Pro hard drives came in this last weekend and that has been my focus to get it up and running. I was able to copy my old 2TB hdd that lay dormant for three years due to desktop C drive that died on me and stopped my earlier efforts at music server. It contained flacs of my CDs and Dvd-Audio (stereo only). So the NAS now can run JRiver constantly, instead of work laptop, and stream those and my recent rips of Vinyl and SACD. Yes that's right, using the Oppo 105, I can now rip the SACD iso files and then break them down into dsf or to flac lossless formats. No need for a hard-to-find PS3 capable ripper. I have been able to stream multi-channel dsf 2.8224 MHz (DSD-64) to the Oppo. This was a 4.0 quad release by MoFi.

Thanks, Eiffel62!

I'm glad you're enjoying your new speaker set-up. You're building yourself quite a music storage and streaming capability also, including multi-channel. So far, I'm limited to 2.0 FLAC streaming (which I play in multi-channel anyway), and use the OPPO for playing SACD, HD, 5.0, 5.1 etc. discs. I like your approach!

Happy listening!

Thelonious Monk Quartet with John Coltrane at Carnegie Hall -- Nutty

Nice song, as is the rest of the cd.

Tomorrow I may go to Dollar General and pick up a Bell for this weekend.
Ring, Ring, Juanita...
