Sonny Rollins / Saxophone Colossus -- St. Thomas

To help push the "ole fellow" from Thailand post through...
A little Sonny Rollins for your Monday musical enjoyment.
One of jazz 50 greatest music accomplishments...I would put it in the top 5.

Not one of my top 5 but certainly great.
Btw reminds me of a Mojo article about Sonny Rollins, which has the tidbit that Sonny played sax on some Rolling Stones songs including "Slave" - one of my favorite little known ones of theirs with some great horn. Sonny is not acknowledged because he didn't want to be - made it sounds like he didn't want to be associated with rock & roll and/or the stones!

Good read of you like Sonny...

Jane Ira Bloom / Mental Weather (2008) -- Luminous Bridges

Jazz/Classical music has a certain class/sophistication that that other genres of music just don't have... rock & roll/country come to mind.

This is a well done, great sounding cd.
Soprano sax that is easy to listen to and not hard on the ears.

Pbgalvin: Kenny Drew does have some mighty "tasty tunes"...I think you'll really enjoy him. On a side note...jazz genre wise...who is your favorite?
