Sound quality is Very, Very, Good...although not perfect.
Rock solid or should I say "jazz solid" set of tunes.
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

World Saxophone Quartet / Experience (2004) -- Little wing.

This particular song has more rhyme and reason than some of the others on the cd. If flows more smoothly and is better controlled than the songs at the beginning of the cd, which are "controlled chaos"...

Tenor saxophone/bass clarinet/baritone saxophone/alto & soprano saxophones/curved soprano &alto saxophones...

Mercy...what a sound.

Listening to Frank Catalano from his cd "Cut it out"...Those Wacky Ways

OCTOBER 1998
Frank Catalano
Cut It Out!?!
Delmark Records
By Owen Cordle

Nineteen-year-old Catalano lives up to his billing (i.e., liner notes by veteran drummer Louie Bellson) on this debut album. Reminiscent of Sonny Rollins, Wayne Shorter, Mike Brecker, Dewey Redman, and Archie Shepp, the Chicago tenor, soprano, and sopranino saxophonist has it together both technically and emotionally. Heading up a quartet (pianist Willie Pickens, bassist Brain Sandstrom, drummer Robert Shy or Rusty Jones) - plus, on two cuts, guest trumpeter and flutist Ira Sullivan, Catalano impresses you with his mature, swinging improvisation.

His tenor bursts in unaccompanied on "Confirmation," romps through a saw-toothed original called "Those Wacky Ways," handles Monk's "I Mean You" with authority, and offers JATP-style shouting on another original called "Party Time." Sullivan demonstrates fluid bop trumpet and fine ideas on the Monk piece. Pickens is masterful throughout the session.

One of the albums I picked up at the music store this morning. This is a winner. Listened to in in the car today while I was on the go. I'm looking forward to hearing this on the Tritons. The bass was a bit sloppy and the SQ not as good in the car as is usual. I wonder if GET has any automotive speakers in the works...

Cheers,

T Cobe

This is definitely better through the Tritons! I still detect a bit of grain in the sax and it's most definitely a studio recording; however, it's clean, dynamic, and sweet from the bottom to the top.

Have I ever said how much I love the HVFR tweeter? Well, let me say it again. The cymbals on this album highlight what makes them, what I feel, the best tweeter going for average joes like me. There is so much air and detail with none of the harshness found in most metallic tweeters. The effect is a very natural top end creating a very real sense of space in the recordings. What a way to start the day!

Cheers,

T Cobe
