T Cobe wrote: I received my last set of acoustic panels yesterday from GIK and listened to one of my favorite test disks: Genius Lives Company by Ray Charles and company. These panels were the Polyfusor diffuser/absorber panels. I didn't like straight absorption on the front wall. The diffusion and absorption seems to be a good match for music. The highs were more open and airy. The bass is immediate and the resolution is phenomenal.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Hi, T Cobe

If you ever get a free minute, some pic's of how you set up the acoustic panels wold be appreciated...

Happy listening!

After getting back from a fun evening of poker league, decided to play something in 5.1 that I have not heard in a while. So I played the SACD of Roxy Music's "Avalon" album. I do like prog-rock, a little less on the glam rock, but this is a well mixed and great sounding multi-channel remix in SACD. GEt's came through again as I relaxed into this wonderful remix.

After that, decided to play Supertramp's "Breakfast in America" blu-ray audio I got last fall. I played the 2.0 DTS HD MA 24bit/96kHz layer. Of course I wanted this in 5.1 and was misled on this when I bought the blu-ray. It does sound good, but others say the SHM-SACD import is better. It sounded good to me.

I know C+W genre has a somewhat limited following on this thread... but, I got the Merle Haggard itch the other day (after posting one of his songs recently), maybe in part because of his recent passing. Anyway, I assembled a playlist of his songs (Mama Tried, Today I Started Loving You Again, Poncho and Lefty, Silver Wings, That's the Way Love Goes.... about 10 songs in total), and decided to have me a multi channel concert. The volume stayed in the 85+ db range.

My, oh my! Can those GEt speakers deliver a concert hall performance! It was transporting. The dynamics, the realism, the pure, rich sound of Merle's voice, and the instruments. Once again, the GEt's brought a concert TO me (or me TO a concert?). I just sat there soaking it up, often with goosebumps.

Wow. Others have remarked on GEt speaker's ability to pump the volume and remain composed, without harshness, just plain enjoyable. I second that, in spades. Merle never sounded better.

Not speaking for anyone else, but I wonder if it is due to a lack of hi-rez, multi-channel music for C+W. I do enjoy listening to that genre at times, but if I want to hear music in 5.1 , I just do not have much; just plenty in Jazz, Prog-Rock, and Classical to choose from.

Not quite a C+W album, but Willie Nelson's Stardust is one I enjoy in stereo (SACD).
