Okay, back to reality on this track, or at least back to the reality of what a lot of modern music sounds like. This album must be a textbook example of what audio compression sounds like. Holy moly, my T1s sound anemic! Reggae is supposed to have bass and this album has very little. I still like the music, but the SQ on this is a perfect example of how not to record music!
Cheers,

Based on Wayne's original recommendation, and T Cobe's reminder, I've been streaming Jesse Cook's CD, "The Blue Guitar Sessions" again this morning (Deezer, FLAC). My wife just came in from errands and asked what was playing. I told her it was Jesse Cook, and was recommended by the GEt Forum guys. Her response, "They recommend good stuff!" (Not the first time she's said that.)
Thanks, folks, for helping with the WAF!

Album: I Love You Honeybear
Artist: Father John Misty (the artist formerly known as Joshua Tillman)
Okay, this album got a lot of critical acclaim and great user reviews as well. Let's just say that this album appeals to a definite sub-culture and a lot of those folks must be writers... I found this record snarky, pretentious, and conforming in its non-conformity. The artist seems to be trying too hard and it comes across disingenuous and a bit desperate; almost like a teenage girl taking a selfie with duck lips to snapchat to all her "friends". The song posted above captures it in a nutshell. This is his Wierd Al version of Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA. It's dripping with the attitude I've attempted to describe.
From and audio standpoint, the album is a bit of a mix. It starts out very compressed and grows from start to finish. It's an interesting effect and has some merit. The vocals are well captured throughout, I suspect because Joshua feels what he has to say is important. Well, I think that's about all there is worth saying. If you're interested in hearing more, I'd say stream it for free first to see if you like it. IMO, the album is not all bad but it's definitely geared towards a specific sub-culture.
Cheers,
T Cobe

Album: Honeymoon
Artist: Lana De Ray
Song: Salvatore
The sultry vocal stylings of Lana Del Ray, combined with some powerful bass grooves, provides for a relaxing and melancholy experience. Freak, another track, has an extremely low bass groove that is best experienced on your GET setup and not your mobile device. I'll concede that her music will certainly not suit everyone but I enjoy her music. We may be able to agree she has a great voice.
Cheers,
T Cobe

Despised by some, revered by others. I'm in the latter camp...from their Human Nature cd BWB (Rick Braun - Kirk Whalum - Norman Brown) -- The Way You Make Me Feel.
This album is dedicated to Mr. Michael Joe Jackson
