I finished playing the Brahms/Dvorak DVD, with Claudio Abbado conducting the Berlin Philharmonic tonight.. listened over several nights.

Thank you, Wayne for a great recommendation, and background information that made it all the more enjoyable. Abbado is a joy to watch, he's at one with the music and the orchestra, and didn't have a score in sight the whole performance. The building is gorgeous, the music was all first rate, as was the SQ and dynamics. What dynamics!

That DVD will be played many times here. First rate stuff.

GREAT RICK!!!!
I have been waiting to hear what you thought of this disc, and an thrilled that you enjoyed it!!!!!
YES, it actually is like food that is SOOOOO RICH and Filling that you need to take it slowly, maybe only one part per night.
I should have mentioned that. I can't watch/listen to the whole thing at one sitting.
Glad you too were taken with the Master Abbado and his conducting as well. I have heard about him for most of my life, but never watched him conduct or listened to any of his work until recently after his death. I feel sad that I waited this long, but enriched by being able to get to see/hear on blu-ray some of the world's greatest concerts!!!!
AND
As someone who used to play the trombone, I can relate to those in the orchestra as well, I would have LOVED to play for someone like Abbado, and am grateful to all in the orchestra that they shared/played so brilliantly for us!!!!!!
Wow, I feel blessed!!!!!!
God Bless you Rick and all the guys,
Wayne
