Wayne,
Cold brew is very smooth. It's gaining popularity and I have even seen some places starting to carbonate the cold brew with nitrogen: almost like Guinness. It certainly is smoother than normally brewed coffee.
I feel the same way about drinking coffee when it's hot out. I tend to drink energy drinks far more often in the warmer months and coffee when it's cold. Here, that's at least 6 months out of the year.
I actually like the bitterness of normally brewed coffee and don't have the patience for cold brew. If I want a cold coffee drink, I usually brew up a double shot of espresso and serve it with milk, ice, and some sort of flavored syrup. Caramel is my favorite. It comes out pretty sweet and tasty.
Cheers,
T Cobe

Hey Bro T.
My experience so far with cold brew has totally reinvigorated my coffee drinking.
I do not like the bitterness much, the acid not at all. And cold brew has neither. The hard part is using the hand burr grinder and grinding a CUP of grounds course, but after that and the over night wait, a little straining, and you have coffee for a whole week!!!!
We have had 3 days of rain which has saved our blistering HOT butts with much cooler weather. So today was a perfect day to try my cold brew hot. Man, it was Good!!!! It is so much a different experience that it is almost not like drinking hot coffee, smooth.
I too love flavored coffee, and caramel, but am trying to keep off the sugar, so I ordered some caramel syrup from Amazon which is sugar free, wish me luck that it doesn't suck.
Since it is a concentrate that can last in the fridge for up to 2 weeks (not very likely to be around that long), once the initial process is done, it is so fast and handy to have around.
So far it looks like I can get into this one.
Just roasted up some local pea-berry beans and gonna give them a try next time.
Flavoring half of them with French Vanilla coffee flavor.
I may be making 'girlie' coffee iced drinks here soon.
Come on over and try it with me.
God Bless,
Wayne

Where is my Bro T Cobe?
Have not seen nor heard from you in a while Buddy!!!!
Is everything OK?
Today I was roasting some Bali beans, when they got to a medium roast I thought of you, my Bro T would stop here I says to myself.
And then when the beans really got to snap crackle and popping, I thought, my Bro T plays vinyl records, probably sound just like this. Ha ha
Yeah, I put a full city dark roast on these beans, even though I am making cold brew coffee, I just like this dark roasted flavor better on these beans than the more tangy, acidic medium roast.
I never said I was a connoisseur.
But I am loving the iced coffee every day, I only tried one hot coffee since I started cold brew, and that was just to see what it tasted like (quite good actually) using my cold coffee concentrate as the base for hot brew. Most days though, I use the Nu Naturals Cocoa syrup which has no calories, and a bit of their vanilla flavored stevia zero calorie sweetener, along with my concentrate and milk over ICE.
LOVELY, cool and refreshing on these HOT summer days, and it still wakes my sleepy butt up too.
Let us hear from you long, lost brother!!!!
God Bless,
Wayne

Good morning, Gents! Time for my morning cup and a few songs. Today's coffee is called Chelelektu Ethiopian from my usual supplier linked below and brewed with a Chemex pour over.

Music will vary, but I'm starting out with Macy Gray's Stripped. Sound quality on this one is top notch. You feel like you're sitting front row at the jazz club.
Cheers,
T Cobe
