Bro Anthem,
I wish your statement held true for teenagers, wish God gave us a volume control knob (and/or brains)!!!!
Agreed for speakers though!
God bless the child that's got his own.

Yes, no such thing as too much power in the hands of a smart user (kinda' like sports cars). I would suggest you NOT use the front end of the Yamaha (at least not permanently) as it is likely not anywhere near the fidelity of a modern piece of gear like the Peachtree you were considering.

Thanks everyone for the advice!

I absolutely love the Triton 7's (especially with Jazz and Vocals!) They bring to life music in a way I've never heard before in my home.

I have two concerns though.

1) Bass response of the 7's. I've read every review out there that's mentioned they were surprised as the amount of bass coming from the 7's. In my home, that bass is there but there's no real punch or authority in the bass. Is that normal for the 7's? My room is fairly large (20x30x8).
2) Classical music sounds good a low volumes but when turned up, gets a bit muddy.

I'm hoping I didn't get a dud (or that the 7's don't play well with my room). I'm wondering if a more powerful amp will address both problems? I have a sub that helps with #1 above but was hoping to avoid mixing in the sub for 2 channel music.

Thanks again!

It's not so much about a "more powerful amp" , but more about a quality amp/preamp/source. Look into upgrading your amp/preamp/source and I think you'll be amazed at what the 7's can deliver, bass wise.
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

GEDuck,
I agree with all Anthem said, I am sure he is right.
But for me, in a very similar situation as you room-wise (and I do not have a powerful amp, just using a good source with a 45 wpc tube amp) I am getting GREAT sound but not GREAT bass.
I am happy with this as I am not expecting more than what I am getting. This system, for me, is all about small vocalist recordings, guitar and piano and chamber music. This is NOT a rockin' out nor full orchestra system.
I would add a sub if I wanted that.
I hope this helps,
God Bless,
Wayne

No such thing as a dud. I wouldn't make any decisions based on the performance with your old Yamaha, I guarantee you its causing whatever limitations you hear in the system.
