If a customer wanted to use these as surrounds, pre outs from their receiver/amp would be run to the rca? Instead of speaker wire?

That's pretty exciting they can compete with the references with two great subs! It goes to show how good active speakers are. I'm so glad you used the brand new drivers from the reference on this model.

These could be a much better alternative than recent active bookshelf speakers by an old competitor (I'll withhold the brand name) that is extremely well regarded.

How long until we start seeing active Towers? Years? Imagine fully active triton references with class a/ab...

Sure, they'd be great as surrounds, just run the surround channel RCA's to the master unit and away you go!

Almost waited for a timeline on when active Ref's would be available in the product line. Got the Ref's in present configuration instead. Glad I did! Amazing speakers (just got named top pick in speaker category in Sound and Vision's list of 2017 Top Picks of the Year).

I guess I'll have another decision coming at me when a fully active T Ref comes along. Not regretting pulling the trigger on the current version one bit. Did I mention they are amazing????
