Just thinking ahead to next summer in NH, with no GEt speakers to listen to.... wireless types would be a much easier installation here, with fewer good wiring options across doorways etc. etc.

Count me in as a potential customer. Would love a pair here to keep my GEt "fix".

Will the Chromecast input accept 96kHz?

The only Chromecast devices supported 96Khz I'm aware of are the Google branded devices only.

The other devices like speakers, streamers and TV's etc are limited to 48kHz over Chromecast.

The module itself might be capable of 24/192 - but the Chromecast protocol itself only supports up to 96kHz ...

And as I mentioned, the Google branded products are the only 96kHz capable Chromecast devices at the moment... all others are limited to 48kHz.

Can you ask Engineering to kindly double check?

There is a well know issue with the Toslink output on the Chromecast puck that limited the data rate to 48Khz. Could this be what you are referring to perhaps?

We are not using Toslink as our DSP directly connects to the cast module's serial data link. This data link is capable of 192KHz/24 bits. The hardware and cast module can support streaming 192KHz/24bit audio and to my knowledge Google does not limit the bandwidth we are allowed to support in our cast license. This may change but we see no reason why Google would limit their own format that they are trying to get third party manufactures to support.

Unrelated but relevant to most I think, from our perspective the big step up in quality is going from 16 to 24 bit, as 24 bit@144dB is 48dB more dynamic range. Realistically, 48Khz@24 bit is awfully good, with noise and distortion below most any analog circuit and better than most program material sources.
