Sounds like you have a great sounding system. On the Vincent amps, if the tubes go bad can you change them yourself or do you have to send the amp for service. I'm trying to figure all this out, that is one of the features of the PS Audio BHK-300. They have a small door on the back of the unit for the user to have access to the tubes. It has 2 tubes per amp. How many tubes are in the Vincents? Thanks Audiophileman.

Mine are easy to change tubes, 3 tubes, just take off the top cover.
The ones you would likely be looking at, the SP-T700 mono blocks are similar, just remove the top cover, 3 tubes, BUT they changed out the tubes to a different style, the ones they use now are rated for 10,000 hours. I believe the figured folks would find tubes a fiddly and worrying thing (unlike myself who rolled the tubes to ones I like better), made them good to go for the lifetime of the amps.

My system does sound VERY SWEET, thanks very much. The TOnes are VERY much of the reason, the amps are too (the SP-T800s were very well reviewed by TAS a few years ago) and I believe in a good source as well.
All the gear you are looking at is surely a "can't lose" proposition, you will have a GREAT sounding system too!!!!!

P.S. one other comment, I was a little bothered by the negative comments "thin sounding", not a good match comments from that dealer you mentioned. Those guys have a profit to make by steering you in the direction they want you to go (buy), but we here on the forum do not, got no reason to do anything except share knowledge and help together for the good of all in the forum.
I am sure you should know I have no connection to Vincent or GEt at all!!!

Thanks Brumtech, I believe when my dealer said thin sounding they were brand new, and not broken in. A s far as the heat, I have read a lot on that. I have read sometimes they are like a heater, and I have read they get really warm but nothing to worry about. Since you have them can you give me your honest opinion on that? I have a large room 20 by 25 feet. I sit back about 17 feet from my equipment. Will I feel the heat from that far away? Also do you notice a big sound improvement in high bias mode? O r does it get so hot that you leave it in low bias most of the time? My original plan is to buy a pair of JC1, and later on add one for the center channel, but that would mean more heat. Thanks Wayne, I agree 100 percent on the comment you mentioned about the dealer. Sometimes when they tell us something we need to take it with a grain of salt. When he told me that about the JC1, I was thinking how could they get such great reviews, but yet thin sounding? Just doesn't make sense. As far as your amps, I forgot to ask you if you use them for home theater as well? If so can you let me know your thoughts on hybrids for home theater use. Thanks again for all the help. I must agree though, I would put the extra money toward a pair of TRefs WELL BEFORE I would spend $15K on a pair of amps!!!!
And I love my TOnes and will NOT be buying any TRefs.
You mentioned heat and the Audiophileman picked up on it. I don't know about your amps, mine run warm and that could be a problem in my home theater (smaller than your room Audiophileman) over here in Thailand. I have to run my A/C or at least the ceiling fan for extended listening sessions. But my TV (plasma Sammy) is the biggest culprit on heat, I cannot feel heat from my amps at 11 to 12 ft. away at all, but I can feel the room gets warmer after a coupla hours with the system, TV and amps on.

Audiophileman, now I have listening room size envy! Yes, they get hot in high bias mode. Warm would be an understatement. However in low bias they just get warm. No, it's nothing to worry about as far as harming the amps, I believe they're designed to handle it. I live in suburban Atlanta so I debated it heavily before the purchase. But everything I read made me realize they'd be a really good match with the T1's, and Audio Advisor had a deal I could not forget. I usually just adjust the AC a couple of degrees during my listening sessions and run the ceiling fan while everything warms up (1 hour). I think you'll have less of an issue because of your room size. Mine is 17'10" x 11'06" x 8'. I am only 7'4" from the speakers and the amps live between them.

And yes, there is a noticeable difference in sound quality between high and low bias. Simply, low bias sounds good and high bias sounds great. At first I honestly wondered if I would be able to tell the difference. In high bias there is just more of everything is the best way I can describe it. I noticed it one night after I had warmed them up in low bias and switched to high bias as I sat to listen. Everything was sounding good and then around 40-45 minutes in a song started towards the end of the album that made me say, "Wow!" I then backed up a few tracks on the same album that I had just heard and noticed the difference. Since then I warm them up in high bias. I use low bias for background music or when I'm breaking in new gear. If you decide on the JC1's and buy them new you'll want to run them 24/7 for two months according to most accounts I've read (mostly off Audiogon). I can't comment on sound differences during that period because I broke mine in using a small room that was available and had a 20A circuit.

Take what I say with a grain of salt. This is, hands down, the nicest gear I've ever owned and I'm still getting used to the way everything sounds as well as tweaking my set up.
