Well I have had my T2' since they came out. And yes I have gone through multiple amp replacements in both towers. All handled through a certified GE dealer., and through emails with Chet at GE which has been a pleasant experience. Well last week, one of my towers amp's went out, yep this one was replaced last year. Its getting rather old. No other electrical component in the sound chain has failed. My Denon AVR, my OPP 105, my Lumin streamer , my Sony TV all working fine, but the T2's amps just don't seem to last. SO Tomorrow I guess I will either call GE or call my local GE dealer and see what's next, as when this gets resolved yet again. I'm done with my GE Towers. I really enjoy them, but its getting old. . It all started in 2015, then 2016, then 2020 and then 2021. ITs' always the amp. The system is used for TV/HT.
Yeah, now this is more of what I have been hearing/reading...
Thank you for your HONESTY...

Since you've had so much trouble with these, I wonder if you're pushing them too hard in your particular setup. Maybe you need something with more bass power than the T2s.

@Dave.
Okay. I guess it's time for me to chime back in again. Disclaimer is that at the moment I'm in an incredible place audio/video wise with my system. Numerous "audio/video aficionado's" will attest to the unbelievable/incredible experience given my recent room upgrade (and previous/current "system").
On to your "issue" ... I am sincerely sympathetic. Trust me, if I have a pubic hair out of place audio/video wise, I literally loose sleep.
Now then, given your experience with GE product(s), perhaps it is time to "move on" . Problem - for you though - is to what ? Suggestion.. move up the chain... I've had T1's and currently the T Ref's ... never had an issue with the amp. Conceivably, there is/was an issue with the T2s or other models that GE has since become aware of and, presumably, have improved upon (i.e. introduced a fix in later models).
The aforementioned stated, and given your seniority with respect to my age (69 you vs 59 me) I totally get/understand where you're coming from. In fact, I sincerely wish you the best, regardless of whatever path you choose. If you happen to be within my zip code (11520) please do PM me, etc. I'd be more than happy bestow hundreds (literally a 100 disk spindle, your choice date, etc.) of CD's to you (Grateful Dead and absolute "gift").
Please do contact me (outside of PM, please follow my web links to my signature line/links to send me a direct email). I welcome an opportunity to "gift" you music of your choice, given your current predicament/hardship... halr.x10.mx/other.html Even if outside my zip, I can/will make available music to you for download.... :)

Now GDHAL, you know I had a failure of a TRef amp. I'm glad you haven't experienced one, but I have. I did not have an amp failure in the T1s I owned before the TRefs.
I agree about moving up the chain or looking for alternatives, but the problem rapidly becomes cost. If you want full range passive speakers (no powered subwoofers built in), then it gets really expensive to get the clarity and bass power. If you go the separates route, like using the GET BRX (great reviews) plus separate subwoofers, then you're back to Class D amplification in the subs.
It is a frustrating tradeoff that I've been pondering for a while. I'm not ready to shell out tens of thousands for a passive full range that might be better than the TRef.

Hi Charlie. Yes, I recall your posts about your amp failure. In my previous post (to Dave) I didn't go as far as to suggest that a plate amp problem can't or would never occur in a different model. Rather, I'm suggesting that it is conceivable (and probably highly conceivable) that Golden Ear improves upon their products not only from the perspective of performance, but from the perspective of quality assurance. It could very well be that there was/is some kind of "design flaw" with the plate amps in the T2s that GE has become aware of and has since corrected in later model amps. The T2 is a rather "old" speaker with respect to GE's latest offerings.
@Dave
Dave, something else to ponder. GE is rather gratuitous from a warranty perspective. Sure, you don't want to be hassled with any kind of a problem on a yearly basis, however, if on the other hand your dealer is able to make a repair free of charge and within a short period of time, then you may want to "live with" this type of temporary annoyance. It is also conceivable that if another T2 plate amp were installed, that it may never exhibit a problem again.
