Hey everyone,

Is anyone using SVS subs with their Triton Ones? While my T1s have tons of bass, they roll off in my room around 22hz. I don't notice any of the chest/gut punch from home theater use. My room is on the smaller size and SVS suggested ported PC-2000 pros (a pair). I'm hung up on ported vs sealed given I'll have to place both behind my sofa. Getting another sealed sub would mean I could run both T1s and the new sub together. Going ported, I'd take LFE duty away from the T1s and just run two ported subs in the back of the room.
Curious how your experiences have been with SVS subs used with T1s and which model SVS you chose.

22hz and below doesn't produce that gut punch, it's far too low. Unless you have a massively large room, your issue is more likely nodes and the need for acoustic treatment/bass traps to ensure flat response which will make a huge difference. SVS are good subs, there are lots of brands that would add more bass but that chest thump is up from 30hz to maybe 80hz, and should be there if the room is treated and the subs turned up on the t1's.

I’ve now both acoustically treated my room and added the SVS subs. As you noted my FR and decays are now much better in the room. The SVS subs can shake the room more than the T1s and I do get a sense of ‘tighter’ bass from them. Combined with the T1s running full range but without LFE duty, it’s been a substantial upgrade.

Interesting view on your side. I had Triton One with an SVS PB16 Ultra. I just got Reference Towers. I pulled the SVS out of duty to see what I thought. I can agree that I am missing some very very low end. But I don't even have my gains on the TRefs at half way and there is a ton of base. With the Ones and the SVS (looking back) I dont think the bass was very exact. Trying to ensure they are all fireing at the same time... trying to ensure that they are not cancelling each other out, etc. I feel the nulls (in my long untreated room were more substantial with the Ones and the SVS.

In theory you have fewer nulls by having a subwoofer in a different location than the speakers. I think the greater issue is the speed of the sub matching the tritons. If no ht receiver is correcting the timing, then you would have an issue there too.
