Hi all, I have been away for a bit. I just saw this thread. I am running my T1's with Emotiva XPA-2's. Originally using 1 in stereo mode. Sounded fantastic. I decided to try 2 of them in Mono mode as Emotiva offers no questions asked return policy and the impending price increase. I got mine before all that happened. Short answer is running in Mono seems to have increased the sound stage in all directions. Very quiet background with noticeably sharper highs and powerful mid and lows. So I kept the 2nd one. I am driving the center(SCXL)with a XPA-1L. Great combo in my opinion. You really cant go wrong with any of the Emotiva amp combos. I plan to upgrade into XPR-1 next year or so(hopefully). I liked the XPA-2 as it is capable of switching between the 2 modes. So I can move it around when I can afford the XPR-1s. Also 1000w of CLEAN power never hurts!!!!!

Thanks for your input on the XPA-1's. Although I have not yet decided on what amp to get I am leaning towards the XPA-1's. Currently I am using my XPA-3 to drive the T 1's & it sounds amazing with good imaging & large sound stage. Can't imagine how good they will sound with XPA-1's. Once I get the mono's I will have the XPA-3/XPA-5 to drive centre channel, side surrounds & 4 GE HTR 7000 in ceiling speakers to support Dolby Atmos. I will get the HTR's next year when I get the Marantz 8802 pre amp. But right now its the mono's I am focusing on.

My HT is heavily treated with acoustical panels, bass traps etc so I play movies & music almost at reference levels to get the live performance effect so with the monoblocks I have no worry of clipping at higher volume levels.

Since the T'1s are 92 db sensitive it doesn't take much power to drive them. Just wondering given diminishing returns etc what can I expect in terms of performance improvement XPA -1 vs XPA -3. Remember I currently use the XPA-3 to drive the T'1s.

I think Dwight, this is who you need to hear from, looks like DT can answer your question the best.
Also, you can ask around on the Emotiva forum, there are people there who will be able to compare the two amps well.
