thank you moderator for the update on the base, I was actually serching the site to find out what it is made of, just made quick assumption on plastic given its look....this came from me not Pierre at Mapleshade.

I also realize that I did not get the spikes inluded with my Triton 2s for some reason (I remember there was a long wait at the time to receive the speakers so guess they were overlooked), as I set them up I didn't care due to the tile floor. So I will order some via my dealer.

I am glad there is a robust discussion now ongoing about these 'upgrades' and look forward to sharing my results with you all.....

And here is my current set up, any thoughts or comments are much appreciated:

Hello everyone, I received the spikes (thank you Goldenear) and put them on the triton 2s. I used the stock spikes and small black metal chips made by Dayton to protect the tile floor. Not sure if this is totally necessary however I don't want to find out the hard way.

I did notice an improvement in the clarity of the lower mid and bass that is significant to my hearing. I have tested this over about 5 days with all kinds of recordings that I know very well, using high resolution downloaded files from HD Tracks and also my trusty turntable.

Its obviously not easy to do a/b testing because the process of putting on and off the spikes, but I am convinced of the improvements.

Next up, when I get the maple stands from Mapleshade, I will see if there is even more improvement, and also the effect of raising the speakers.

I do appreciate everyone's comments on these forums.

I am still testing the mapleshade platforms, however, I think I like the sound without them better so far. I also need to do more work in terms of leveling them, I think there was some bouncing around of the speakers.

I did not find the height to matter too much as far as I could tell, however I did find, in my set up that with spikes on tile floor without the platforms seems to be clearer and punchier. I'm going to keep testing....

I also ordered some equipment racks, and will test that as well start looking at power and speaker cables
