Hi all. Been looking at GoldenEar speakers for 6 months and reading the GE forums for over 2 months. Lots of good information being shared by GE owners. Thank you.
It took a while to convince the wife and yesterday ordered the Triton One, SuperCenter XXL, and SuperSat 50 for the surrounds. Dealer tells me that he will be calling me on Wednesday or Thursday to come pick them up. Very excited and looking forward to a huge step up in performance.
Selling my Definitive Technology BP2000 towers, C/L/R 2000 center channel, and BPX rear surround speakers to offset the GE investment. It will be an interesting conversion from this BiPolar system to GE.
What surprised me is that I had to go to two GE dealers to listen to all the speakers. One dealer only has the X center and SuperSat 50, 60, and Sat3 speakers. Of course, he had the Triton One, Two +, and Three + and the new Reference Speakers. The X center speaker was good but he did not have the sound quality that I was looking for. Never did hear the XL but did hear the XXL which was amazing. Beautiful vocals and strong bass which melds with the Triton One so much better than the X Center speaker..
SuperSat 50 will be a few feet behind the listening seats. My current BPX rears are 3 ft above the ear level of the viewers. Should I lower the SuperSat 50's when I install them? Thoughts? If so, how low on the wall should they be mounted.
I have read Sandy's Setup tips and will read it again before setting up the new GE speakers.
