I think part of the confusion comes from the term LFE when we are probably really talking about getting the most/best sounding bass we can out of our towers.
But I do not have your equipment, nor your expertise, nor your knowledge. Mine doesn't work quite that way.
The main thing is you know what you like and have found a way to get there with your equipment.
Happy Listening, and please keep in touch,
God Bless,

Wayne,

No offense taken at your comments.

For others: I have a test CD (which I have had for nearly 20 years) which provides tones from 1 KHz down to 16 Hz. All appropriate tones below 100 Hz are audible through my Triton Ones and my Paradigm sub, as connected to via the Sub Out RCA Jack on both my Denon and Onkyo Receivers. I had the same options when I used a couple of Sony Receivers in earlier 5.1 configurations. I would be surprised to encounter an AV Receiver which does not provide low frequency tones via the Sub Out RCA Jack when the Sub Setting is set to YES. Front Speaker LARGE/SMALL choice does not impact the presence of the low tones at the Sub Out RCA jack.

Sandy's Set Up Tips for the Active Tritons include considering the option to connect the Sub Output RCA Jack from the Receiver to the Sub Input RCA Jack on the Tritons for improved bass response. In that Tip for the Active Tritons, Sandy recommends that the Front Speaker setting be "Large (definitely not Small)" when the Sub Out option is used.

Best,

Art

1) Sandy's setup tips suggestion relates ONLY to playback of material with a .1 track.

2) Test tones play whenever you have identified a channel as present. That has nothing to do with whether signal is present in that channel under different bass management settings scenarios. If you want to test that, you need a channel ID disc like the test and calibration BluRay disk from AIX Records. If your receiver functions properly, the settings we've discussed will yield no output on the LFE channel with 2.0 playback.

Thanks Moderator Dude, I am following this closely as I too have questions regarding the LFE hookup:
When the LFE is connected from my Triton 2s to my pre-processor, does that cause anything to happen with the crossover inside the speaker at all? In other words, will everything play just the same in the tower when full range music is played through the normal speaker connection as normal stereo WITH the LFE input connected?
That is what I am suspecting but would like to be sure.
Thanks for your help,
God Bless,
Wayne

As you suspected, nothing changes in the speaker when you plug in the LFE cable.

The Test Tones to which I was referring were coming off my Test CD, playing on a CD players and through my system. I was not referring to the speaker location test noise generated by my receivers in the setup mode.
