Arthur I have been using a similar set up with my Triton Two's. I run them and a Velodyne sub from a Sony RCVR. I use the A.F.D. connection which outputs to my mains only and low frequency to the sub. There is full signal going to the sub-just don't call it LFE! The RCVR is set to mains large ,sub yes. I am using speaker connections. I enjoy this set up because my sub has a remote control and I can dial it up or down with 2.1 music. If it sounds good keep it the way you have it!
So much music-so little time!

Hi all, my $.02 worth. Art is correct there is signal on the RCA cable from the RCVR. I think everyone is stating facts, but sometimes specsmanship can get in the way of communication. LFE by definition is the .1 low freq signal defined in the Dolby spec for the .1 channel used for movies. Which is 3 to 120Hz, lots of movie special effects type sound there. I had a similar experience with my Yamaha RCVR, I started with speaker cable only to my T1's. Based on "Sandy's Setup Tips" which I recommend everyone read. I tried the sub out from the RCVR to the LFE in port on the T1's. Fronts set to large in both cases. I heard a discernible improvement in low freq sound in stereo and multi-channel settings. I think what is happening RCVR's use sub out for lower frequencies (which are settable in some RCVR's as in the Yamaha I have (RX-A1040 set to 120Hz)) It is not well documented in the RCVR user manual what exactly is sent on the sub out interface. It seems to me the RCVR's are sending low frequency signal based on internal settings out this interface. It IS NOT by definition an LFE output. The T1's internal DSP handle the input signals on speaker in and LFE in VERY well.

Hope this helps.

For clarity, I am using the Yamaha as a preamp for all front channels.

Enjoy!!

Hey Art, please don't take offense at my comments, I am glad you are experimenting, in fact, I have my speakers set up the same way at the moment, LFE inputs being used.
I think part of the confusion comes from the term LFE when we are probably really talking about getting the most/best sounding bass we can out of our towers.
But I do not have your equipment, nor your expertise, nor your knowledge. Mine doesn't work quite that way.
The main thing is you know what you like and have found a way to get there with your equipment.
Happy Listening, and please keep in touch,
God Bless,
Wayne
