Well kids, it's time to get with it. Grab those HEAVY weights and slap on some SMOOTH JAZZ...it's showtime!!

The Rippington's / Modern Art (2009)

Russ Freeman works his magic on guitar. The song, "Body Art" is an absolute showstopper...

I'm having a "Traditional Jazz" Saturday. Earlier this week I received my Sonny Rollins/Saxophone Colossus CD, first play this morning. Upon first listen I wasn't impressed, I needed something to get me in the mood, so I put on Frank Catalano/Cut It Out...love his music. Replayed Saxophone Colossus and this time had a much greater appreciation of his music...wife came home at the tail end and said she liked what she heard.

Both musicians are extraordinary saxophonists...Catalano is still my favorite.
Thanks Santhosh for the recommendation.

Wayne, this is cool music... you don't know what you're missing. B)

Well, this recommendation is not music I am "currently" playing, but I was listening to it yesterday morning as I ran. It is a band fronted by a friend's brother. It is a superb band and I wholeheartedly recommend it, especially on a good music system that will extract the subtle rhythms and instrumentation. I know it is self-serving because it seems I have a vested interest, but please listen to it if you can. The band is Red Baraat. All their albums are good, but listen to "Chaal Baby". You are in for a sonic treat.
Anthem! Glad you liked Saxophone Colossus. It gets better the more you play it!

I am CURRENTLY playing Herbie Hancock's "possibilities". Beautiful album filled with a wide variety of talented musicians. Not kidding, some of the best in the world. Here they are:
John Mayer
Santana and Angelique Kidjo
Christina Aguilera
Paul Simon
Annie Lennox
Sting
Johnny Lang and Joss Stone
Lisa Hannigan
Raul Midon
Trey Anastasio

Listen and enjoy...

Great! Glad you liked Red Baraat. I am having a jazz Saturday afternoon finally getting to listen to my loudspeakers (on lower volume than I am happy with). I have not been listening to music on my loudspeakers because someone is always sleeping (I guess I only get time to listen to music when it is time to sleep). I have built up my headphone system - I like it very much - but I miss the 3D soundstage of my Goldenears.
Currently listening to Cannonball Adderley's "Something Else" with Miles Davis, Hank Jones, Sam Jones and Art Blakey as sidemen! Need I say more?
