Chilling out this morning with a little Dave Matthews Band. Giving my system a critical listen. My auditions yesterday left me undecided regarding speaker cables but the power cables were reinforced. I think it will be better for me to get the power cords in place first and then audition the speaker cables at home one more time to be sure. I continue to be impressed by the performance of the 18-7 wire and am convinced that for the money, it's the best I will be able to accomplish in the near term.
Despite listening to the T1s yesterday on much more expensive gear than I own, I have to say I prefer the sound I have at home. I think we create a "house" sound that we get accustomed to listening to our media and anything else sounds a bit foreign. The soundstage and room interactions at my local dealer were a bit distracting. Even with the expensive gear, the soundstage and presence of the T1s was diminished. There may have been a bit more detail and depth, particularly with all of the cables in place but I think I will be able to achieve the same. One thing that was certainly better was that the room was much smaller than my open concept basement and the T1s absolutely pressurized the room!
What do you all think? Do you have a house sound that you prefer to your local retailers?
