T Cobe wrote: This one has certainly lived up to expectations! This album is stunning. If you want to hear what a system is made of, play this disk for a few minutes. From the very first seconds of Birdland, the Tritons blew me away. This version of Take Five had me spending big money on new audio cables. Besides the performance value, sound quality is fantastic. I can't wait to listen to the rest of this import CD.

Hey, T Cobe

Rick,

Glad you're liking Birdland. I just received a FedEx email that my 1 meter Red Dawn cables will arrive tomorrow. I'm not sure how big an improvement I will here with new cables between the CD player and the pre-amp. I'm guessing the bigger improvement will come from the cables going to my amps from my pre-amp, but we shall soon see.

Have you considered some SSATs or Aons for you Summer home? You could probably build a low cost system that would fill the void while you're away from your primary system all season. A couple of Aons and a NAD D3020 could make for a great system. Just a thought. I love to help others spend their money!

Cheers,

T Cobe

Thanks, T Cobe!

As always, T Cobe, your insights mean a lot to me.

There was a GEt dealer in NH a couple years ago, but not now. Crazy, what's wrong with NH? Of course I could ship GEt speakers from elsewhere. I guess when I get there and decide whether the SONY headphones can "fill in" there, I have some decisions to make. I at am at this point so used to the GEt "sound".. I know I have to do something to fill the summer void. I have heard Aons and Supersats, and they too are amazing. So, maybe there'll be some GEt shipments to NH this summer...

Brian Bromberg / Jaco -- The Chicken

In tracking Manhattan Jazz Orchestra - Birdland, I noticed vast similarities between Brian Bromberg and Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band. Still sounds like an interesting cd, just wish it was priced a little cheaper.
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

listening to Birdland amongst some others tonight to stick with familiar music. This is an interesting version of Fever. Some of it sounds familiar, some new. Sound quality and the musical performance are both neck and neck. This track is a bit more laid back than Birdland and Take Five.

The Red Dawn cables are in and I've done a little critical listening. With the new cables between my CD player and pre-amp, I've noticed several improvements. Bass seems a little more powerful but has significantly better tonality. The focus is sharper with the apparent improvement in the speed (attack and decay?) of the sound. The most significant improvement is in the depth and size of the soundstage. It will take some more listening, but I'm happy so far. I haven't noticed any negative effects on brass or wood winds, thankfully. I'm looking forward to adding another set of cables between the pre-amp and amps.

Cheers,

T Cobe

This is the sample track for high resolution. The vocals are warm and lifelike, as always. The bass and piano also seem similar but the Red Dawn cables have the maracas sounding better than ever. Besides the resolution of each shake sounding different and well defined, the depth is more present as well. This is a great track.

Cheers,

T Cobe
