DT- I saw the Marantz listed earlier this week as well. The Wife and I just purchased 3 garage doors and a trip to Italy so I think it will be a bit before I get the green light. Unless, of course, my Integrate dies soon....

Murphyslaw1978- I have some long signal runs to do so I want balanced connections. The internal amp would make Atmos a cheaper transition, though.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Understood, I am going to upgrade to this model also. I want it to be out a few months to see if they messed up anything ;) Audiohoulics recommend it very highly!! It is going to be my Christmas gift, my wife just doesn't know it yet

Murphyslaw: I am going to an all external amp setup. I don't want to pay for 11 amps to sit there and do nothing! I have all front channels external right now. I am trying to decide which amps to run the rears. I am leaning toward XPA-5, it leaves me expansion room for presence and ATMOS speakers.

Enjoy!

Yeah, XPA-5 or XPA-7 would work too. Eleven channels is a lot of channels. The XPA-7 has over 500 watts of power in 2-channel mode(!). I think the XPA-5 is also powerful in 2-channel mode, but Emotiva would not say how much (publicly, or privately when I asked them).
7.1 today, moving to 7.1.4 tomorrow
(2) Triton Two - front mains
(1) Sat 60C - center
(2) Sat 50s - sides
(2) Sat 50s - rear
(2) DIY 18" Stereo Integrity subs, 1100w each

DT- You and I may be upgrading around the same time. Between my allowance and any gift money from Christmas, I should be able to make the purchase with or without spousal approval... Better to do it with!

The description in Audioholics has me hopeful. It sounds like there were several upgrades. Let's hope it sounds as good or better than the current 7702. We should definitely see some reviews by the Holidays.

Murphyslaw1978- I found it strange that they don't publicize the 2-channel wattage of the XPA-5 like they do the XPA-7. It is definitely better with only two channels driven. I'm currently using mine for all surround channels and the center. It sounds very good but the XPA-1L is a noticeable improvement. I considered the XPA-7 to run my whole system but wanted better amplification for stereo listening. I've been happy with all the gear so far.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Hi Guy's, my ultimate config, which is still on the table. Replace the XPA-2s(mono mode) with XPA-1s. Move the XPA-2s back to 2 channel to drive the rear and SS. That's a lot of power for rear and SS? That would give me XPA-1s for the T1s and an XPA-1L for the SCXXL. Mono blocks for all 3 front channels. I want to upgrade the rears from SS3's to 50s. Move the now available SS3's to front presence(which I do not have an amp for at this time)

The road goes on forever and the party never ends!!!!!!!

Enjoy,
DT
