Wayne, do you have another pre-pro in the chain running Dirac? I couldn't find mention of Dirac in the Emo.

Exactly my point GDHAL, since I am not in the market for 4K any time soon, I am not sure I need an Oppo at all!!!!!

Charlie, the Emotiva XMC-1 has DIRAC, that is the raison d'etre, most important reason I have it. I believe other functionality is as good as most pre-processors, I feel the sound is BETTER than the Marantz I had, but to me DIRAC runs circles around Audyssey.

So, unless somebody thinks of another way the Oppo could work for me, I am back to the old drawing board.

Thanks guys, God bless,
Wayne

Yeah, my bad, I found Emo Dirac on the web. You're kind of in the same boat I was with this problem in 2 channel. Too bad there isn't a way to loop digital out of the Oppo, do your room correction, then digital back in to use the Oppo DAC.

I'm with GDHAL, there doesn't seem to be an easy solution for this.

I guess the only other consideration I'd include is the the HDMI digital out on the 205 (maybe the 203 also???) now has good reclocking to remove jitter. Yes, good DAC's have jitter removal capability, but the cleaner the signal, the better job they can do. The Wyred4Sound reclocker and upsampler on my SONOS Connect digital out did make a difference on the SQ from the Marantz's DAC. Would a cleaner digital signal from the 205 show up as better SQ from your Emotiva receiver's DAC? Not a clue.

Just another tiny piece of the puzzle. Since I play 90% digital out from my 105 to let the Marantz add the height channels and play nine channels instead of 5.1, I guess what would draw my interest is if I start to see reports from folks who have upgraded from the 105 to the 205 that the HDMI digital SQ took a step up also. I'm not ready to take the 4k leap yet.

Guess I'll keep reading reviews. looking for more info on the HDMI digital SQ piece. Oppo upgraded digital reclocking for a reason, I'm sure.....

Yes Charlie, GDHAL and Bro Rick,
I am thinking about whether or not the reclocking of the HDMI output on the 205 would help at all, probably some, you would think since they went to the trouble and (I assume) expense of adding it???? The 203 did not get the reclocking on the HDMI did it?
But that is a big leap from the 203 to the 205 just to use the HDMI output.
More study is required, thanks guys!!!!

Hi GDHAL,
I don't think it was this thread, but I did not see any reports of how you like your Schiit Yggy with the TRefs?
I just thought about that as I was watching a review of the Yggy that said you must NEVER turn it off. He said it takes a week of warm up to sound its best!!
Wow, would not work in my neck of the woods, we cannot go a whole day without a power outage.
Any report?
Happy listening,
God Bless,
Wayne
