Good one, thanks GDHAL!!!
I think using the balanced outputs is the way to go, IF you have a balanced system.
That is what I do, but my Oppo is just the 95, so two generations back from your new one.
Still it sounds pretty great.
Yours must sound even better.
Enjoy and report back please when you get all hooked up to the References!!!!
God Bless,
Wayne

GDHAL:

Have you had a chance to spin a few cds? How does the UDP-205 ES9038PRO Dac's compare to the Emotiva ERC-3 AD1955 Multi-Segment Delta-Sigma Dac's?

Hi anthem. Actually, yes. I have had a chance to spin a few CDs. Even more so, playing flac and wav files from a USB stick. Suffice it to say I highly recommend the Oppo UDP-205. In comparison to my Emotiva and V DAC in my Musical Fidelity M6si, I prefer the sound of the Oppo.

There is no question in my mind that the UDP-205 is a terrific overall value. I can say with near 100% certainty that if you purchase it, you wouldn't be disappointed.

Also, FWIW, there are now numerous (previously I wrote a few or one or two) posts on the AVS forum www.avsforum.com/forum/149-blu-ray-playe...-owner-s-thread.html touting how amazing the 205 sounds and in fact one post asking if sound could get any better.

By the way, I come to learn "Secrets of Home Theater" has just added Analog audio bench test results to their review of the 203 where they've declared it "Audiophile Quality". And the 203 has best the previous series Oppo's and the 205 has best the 203 (based on customer testimonials to date).

Suffice it to say that in my particular case, the UDP-205 will be my main, primary and best source for the (my) foreseeable future. To anyone on the fence whether or not to purchase, I highly recommend doing so.

Also of note, I ran all kinds of video formats threw it and the picture quality is outstanding.

Thanks for your response. The Oppo UDP-205 will be a Birthday Present to myself, come July. Gonna be a Great Birthday.

Looking at the Triton Reference as a possible "Christmas Present" to myself, also. Gonna be an Extra Great Christmas? We'll see...

Wow, Anthem!

Good for you! Here's hoping you get to enjoy an "Extra Great Christmas"!!!

I'll be very interested in your comments, when you get your July birthday present of the 205, about how the 205 sounds vs your 105..
