Anthem owners, make sure to reset the default max frequency for ARC from the 5000 Hz it comes set at to our recommended 500 Hz. This is HUGE in terms of getting good results on the GEt speakers, it results in fixing room bass issues, insuring an excellent transition to the mids, AND DOESN'T MESS EVERYTHING ELSE UP.

If you own an Anthem piece and are not using ARC, or are not using it correctly, you are really missing out on perhaps the very best thing about these products and what makes them potentially sonically superior to other choices. On the older D2v it is a bit harder to use as you need a serial connection and not just USB like the newer stuff. Just pick up a USB to serial converter and go for it, it is quite easy and very interesting for the audio hobbyist, not to mention the very worthwhile improvement is sound that will result.

Thanks, Moderator Dude. I'll rerun it this weekend with that setting and see what I get. Any thoughts on room gain? What about the usual causes of dips in the 100 to 200 Hz range? I seem to be dropping 10 dB. ARC2 is smoothing it out but it's still there.

Cheers,

T Cobe

That's a reflection cancellation from somewhere, try moving the speakers slightly closer or further from the back and/or side wall. Could be a rear wall cancellation if your listening position is between the speakers and back wall (no real easy way to fix that cancellation other than move yourself closer to the rear wall). Also, remember that ARC makes cuts happier than boosts, so you may want to turn up the Triton subs just a bit to help fill in that dip and let ARC bring down whatever is too much, just don't increase them too much or ARC won't know what to do with them.

It is also possible you have the subs up too high as an ARC starting point, if that's the case you will see a rising response below 100 Hz, which would exaggerate the dip you are seeing. I usually run ARC with the subs turned down a bit and then after ARC is complete turn them up to "taste".

For room gain I just let ARC determine that during its measurements and processing and use the value it comes up with.

Hey, T Cobe

I like the methodical way you are zoning in your new Anthem. Are you planning on adding your Pangea power cords to the test mix, or use them on the amps and stick with the stock cord on the Anthem?

Happy listening! You're building quite a system!
