My dealer is giving me a chance to upgrade the T1’s to references ,

The overall system will be :
2 T ref’s
4 T2+
1 xxl center
4 7000 ceiling
2 svs pb16 ultras
Marantz 8012

Is it worth the upgrade? Or should I stick with the T1’s, the system is 85%movies 15% music ,

I know that i might need separate amplifiers ,
The marantz gives 145w all channels driven so maybe in the future i can improve amplification but this is what i have for now...

Now, you asked for opinions so I am gonna throw mine out there.
No, to me it is not worth it to upgrade from the TOnes to the TRefs for mostly movies, when you already have 2 powerful subs. The MAIN difference you would get going to the TRefs would be more bass. And you will not need more bass.
In my opinion, the Marantz is by far the weakest link in your system. Not saying it is bad, but for the difference between the TOnes and TRefs price wise, you can get a good pre-processor and separate amps that will kick butt.
Others will disagree, but I have TOnes with the T 2s in the surround position and a SVS sub and believe me, I have tons of bass and my movies are FANTASTIC!!!!!
Just one person's opinion, For what it is worth.

That is what I hear, I have the TOnes and love them. The TRefs have a Lot more bass. But you already have a LOT of bass with those subs, a LOT!!!! And the cost difference between the TOnes and TRefs is substantial, enough that you could save money there and get MUCH better electronics.
I listen to music too with the TOnes and they are wonderful. I have not heard the TRefs, have you?
With the TOnes and T 2+s you will have a whole theater full of powerful surround sound. For movies and music.
AND BASS!!!! I cannot imagine you getting your money's worth out of the upgrade to the TRefs.

Wayne, agree with your assessment. 85% of the time he is using his HT system for movies and replacing the TOnes with T Reference will increase the bass which I also agree is not necessary. Yea, there are other areas where the TRef is better but I would focus with the electronics.
