fuadkamel wrote: My dealer is giving me a chance to upgrade the T1’s to references ,

The overall system will be :
2 T ref’s
4 T2+
1 xxl center
4 7000 ceiling
2 svs pb16 ultras
Marantz 8012

Is it worth the upgrade? Or should I stick with the T1’s, the system is 85%movies 15% music ,

I know that i might need separate amplifiers ,
The marantz gives 145w all channels driven so maybe in the future i can improve amplification but this is what i have for now...

Your help and advice is really appreciated
Thanx

fuadkamel - with that upgrade you would have a fantastic HT system. My hunch is that the 2 SVS subs really strengthen the bass of the TOnes. If I was in your shoes and listened to only 15% music, I would stay with your existing speaker system and look at that Marantz 8012 which is a really good receiver.

I would look at the brand new Marantz preamp and the Marantz power amp. Also suggest you look and listen to the Parasound A51 amp + A3.1 or A21 for the extra channels. Are you running 11 or 9 channels? Then listen to the McIntosh power amp. If your budget can afford it there are other high end preamps and amplifiers to evaluate.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with that Marantz 8012 but the Marantz, Parasound and McIntosh amps have higher power ratings which provides more head room when your playing loud and your have explosions going off in multiple channels. The head rooms in any of these amps will be better than the 8012.

There are lots of good preamps from Integra to Marantz to MacIntosh to Bryston. Just be sure they have controls to cover your 9 or 11 channels and if you need multiple zones that they will cover your requirements.

Right now one of the best buys is that the top of the line Marantz preamp is on sale for $1,500 off and is a steal at that price in the USA. I tend to avoid obsolete models but its a great preamp at a fantastic price.

In my opinion and Waynes, upgrading the electronics is going to improve the quality of sound more than switching out the TONes to the T-Reference towers. As you evaluate the preamps and amps rely on your ears as to what you like and try to listen to this equipment with the TOnes. Even if the dealer has to move the speakers to another room, it's worth the time and effort.

So how do you like your SuperCenter XXL. I love mine. It keeps up with the TONes and the blend in sound is outstanding.

You have an outstanding system and the next upgrades will further improve the sound quality. But beware, you may discover that the preamp, amp and GET speakers reveal a CD or DVD/Blu-ray player that needs to be upgraded. Just saying it happens......been there and done that.

Thanks Del for backing me up here.
Fuad, the Emotiva amps are good, I am using their XMC-1 processor, but you will want one that has ATMOS.
The TOnes are so good you may want a good stereo amp just for them, or mono amps, and then a 7 channel for the center (you chose a GREAT center channel speaker) and the surrounds. The center and surrounds you are talking about will all reward you for playing them with decent amps that have a good deal of power.
I feel pretty sure others here will give their suggestions too.
Go for it, yours will be a SUPER system!!!!!!
God Bless,
Wayne

I forgot to mention in that last message, when your looking at a new preamp and amplifiers, I would also switch from the RCA jacks to the Balanced XLR inputs. When I upgraded my Denon to Parasound amp, it had the XLR inputs plus RcA jacks. I switched to XLR since my preamp had the Balanced XLR output plugs. That will cost you all new XLR cables between the preamp and power amp. At $100 to $500/cable it's going to cost you additional money.

When I bought the Parasound amp the dealer sold me the Audio Quest XLR Cables at his cost so I saved some money.

Hi, fuadkamel

First, Wayne and Del have given great insights into maximizing GEt speaker systems!

The system you're envisioning is a killer, SQ wise!

Your Marantz SR 8012 is similar to my SR 7010, with the same great AK4458 DAC, but with more amp punch, and 11 amped channels vs my 9. I did add a 5 channel amp for the fronts, center and surrounds (and a 2 channel amp for the unamped channels). I agree with them that external amps with more power, and control, can add punch, headroom.

I agree that adding LFE connections to the Triton towers in addition to the external subs is the way to go. The Triton powered towers do a fantastic job of integrating the bass.

They are correct that T1 fronts with that system do an amazing job of playing music, and doing HT duty, either for music or action Blu-rays.

There are no wrong choices here. Anything you're considering will literally blow you away.

Here's something to think about though... the Ref's have a level of finesse I've never heard before, adding clarity, detail, punch, dynamics to anything I play, and not just music, and not just bass. Even tv stuff.

Speakers are the rate limiters in what you can achieve SQ wise with any system. Have you listened to the Ref's at your dealer? What counts is what works for YOUR ears!!! If you haven't yet, bring some of the Blu-ray stuff you like and audition how it sounds to you, on Ref''s vs 1's. (And you may find that you love the SQ of the GEt system you're installing so much that you add more and more music based Blu-rays to your collection. I did.) So, yes, either speaker upgrades or pre/pro or amp upgrades can improve what you're hearing.

I guess it depends on your budget, ears. Listen to the Ref's before you decide is my advice. No wrong choices.

Good luck! Whatever you choose, you're heading for goosebump making listening!!!

Rick, you had to go and write that sentence? Wow....very concise summary of the T Refs....those kind of comments encourage me to go to the Audio store to hear the Refs and that could be dangerous to my savings account and credit card bringing immense damage to both. :P :woohoo:

Seriously, nice assessment on the equipment and on the T Ref's. Well said.

Hi, Del

You already have a fantastic system! Don't go listen to the Ref's unless you have a credit card or check with you!
