Dear all,

WAF issue with the larger tritons - they have 3 cables (standard speaker wires, sub, and power cable) which means clutter - 2 questions:

1) would the sound quality be affected if the 3 wires are stuck to each other from beginning to end? (mostly worried about the power cable causing interference..)

2) does anyone know where one can buy a nice looking fabric cloth or sock to cover all 3 cables? I have see some plastic spirals (ugly) and some self-made cloth socks (no patience). I am look for something with the charm of some of the higher-end cables that come with fabric around them.

Thanks!

Think about various types of hoses for a flexible tube in which to encase wires and cables.

Hi Twinturbo11,
I am not so sure this is a good idea.
The standard speaker wires and the LFE wire can be together, but I believe the power cable will induce interference into the speaker wires. I would keep it separate.
Wish I could help.
God Bless, Wayne

Hey twinturbo11

I think Wayne is right and combining the three could cause a problem. A simple way to test might be to use a bunch of tiny wire ties. It's not a definitive test but it may help you decide if the idea is worth pursuing. Should cost a couple of bucks and about a half-hour. Just use a lot of ties and don't over tighten so that you are approximating the wires in a sock. If you try it please let us know the results.

Sorry, no thoughts on actual products, but Art might have the right idea.

Twinturbo11,

There are plenty of options. The best thing to do is cable tie the wires together with something you have around the house and see if it effects the sound. My guess, despite conventional wisdom in the hi-if realm, is that running them together will not impact sound but it would be easy to verify. Let us know what you discover. Good luck!

Cheers,

T Cobe

Thank guys for your kind replies!

Interference: ok will do test running them together and try to listen for any impact on sound quality, although i am not sure if my ear will pick it up! On the other hand, even if my ear doesn't pickup, i'll always wonder if the sound quality was in fact affected    I would be curious to hear the moderator's opinion on this. Do you guys generally have the power and audio cables layed out far apart? how do your wires look like? the subwoofer and audio cables have no problem being close to each other, right?

Cable housing: T Cobe, thanks for the links. The amazon one only shows something to tie cables togther, but the parts express has pretty much what I was looking for : www.parts-express.com/techflex-1-2-expan...25-ft-white--082-354 (I would have preferred though the cooling looking fabric-based covers, like some of the high end cables :cheer: )
