Hello GE-ar Heads!

I have a SuperSat-based HT, and I am using SuperSat 3s for the rear channels in a 7.1 system (60s up front and 50s for side surrounds). I will be eventually adding 4 Atmos speakers to the ceiling (TBD but probably HTR7000s up front and 650s in the rear), but that upgrade is at least 6 months away.

So knowing ATMOS is "coming", how high should I place my SuperSat 3s in the back? Should they be close to level with the other speakers tweeters? Most general advice says to place the rear surrounds "1 to 2 feet higher than the rest of the speakers".

Looking forward to everyone's thoughts on this!

Hi tallensr, we have found that placing the rear surrounds 2-3 feet about ear level (or 5-6 feet above the floor) works best in most systems. This added height helps the rear surrounds provide a bit more spaciousness around the listeners. This would be true for both Atmos and "non Atmos" systems. Happy Listening!
