I currently have the traditional 11.2 speaker setup with highs and wides. Speakers are Triton 2's, Supercenter XL and supersat 50's for highs, wides and surrounds.

I am upgrading my system with new Marantz 8802A and Sunfire amps. A knowledgeable person told me to leave the highs where they are (mounted on front wall 6 inches from top of ten foot ceiling and about one foot from outer wall), and move my wides to the ceiling, just behind the second row of theater seats to achieve Dolby Atmos.

Theater is 25 feet wide and 35 feet long.

Questions: Will the speaker placement he suggested for Dolby Atmos work?
Will the Supersat 50's work out OK for the rear ceiling speakers?

I realize the Invisa 7000's are probably best for Dolby Atmos ceiling speakers, but would like to use what I have.

Thanks for any advice.

Front heights should be just in front of the listening area, similar to what is being suggested for the back heights just behind. But yes, SuperSat 50's mounted high on the wall can work as height channels if they are not too far outside (left and right of) the listening area, but ceiling mount would be better. Also, your surround channels should be mounted at ear height to help differentiate from the height channels.

They all work well, my room size and walls, door ways, and windows dictated the speaker I could use.
I had always had a dedicated theater room. New house open floor plan, my sides and rears are all mounted horizontal.
My pre amp did a great job matching all levels.

Made a decision for Dolby Atmos, an expensive one. Traded Onkyo TX NR 5009 and Emotiva XPA 3 for: Marantz 8802A, two Sunfire amps, and four Goldenear HTR 7000's for ceiling. Already have Triton 2's, Super Center XL, and Super Sat 50's for surrounds. Will install the ceiling speakers on Sunday and hook up all the new equipment. I have a pretty nice dedicated theater room. Audio was OK to begin with, but wanted to try Atmos. Wife is going crazy. Any one know how to set up an off shore bank account?
