Hi,

I'm new to the forum and Golden Ear. Next week, I'll be purchasing the GE Sevens, SuperCenter XL and SuperSat 3s. I was considering putting the SuperSat 3s on speaker stands but now I'm considering wall mounting.

I understand that as Left/Right surrounds, the SuperSats should never be in front of the listener. Regarding the mounting height, the downloadable manual suggests the SuperSat 3, as left/right surrounds, be mounted as high as possible. I've also read somewhere that they should be at ear level.

What is the optimal position/height of the left and right SuperSat 3s behind the listener(s)? Also, how far behind the listener(s), can the SuperSat 3s be located?

My room is approximately 18x19. The sofa is just 4' from the rear wall.

Thanks, in advance, for your advice and insight.

The audio/video store that I frequent suggests L/R surrounds be placed approximately one foot behind the listener and twelve inches down on a eight foot floor to ceiling wall.
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

Hi Noel228,
Welcome to the forum and you came to the right place.
Bro Anthem has given you some good advice there.
Honestly, as long as they are behind the listener SOME, it really does not matter IMHO.
With the system you are getting you really cannot go wrong.
I suspect mounting them higher up is more about not hitting them as you walk by. I have Triton 3s on the floor as surrounds and Triton 7s as rear surrounds and they sound GREAT!!!! I had ceiling mounted one time, pretty cool too.
I think you are gonna be very happy wherever they are.
Keep us up to date and let us know what you do and how it sounds.
IF you would.
Enjoy the music and movies,
God Bless,
Wayne

Lot of personal preference here, but we suggest as high as possible and to the sides and slightly behind the main listening position.

FWIW, if you're considering moving to an "Atmos" setup at some point (which having just recently done I highly recommend) - the recommendation from Dolby given the addition of dedicated height channels is to mount the surrounds at or slightly above ear level of MLP.
