emidalla76, the following link shows how the Anthem MRX receivers are definitely putting out more power than their spec, compared to most other receivers which put out much less than they claim.

Having ARC really gives them an edge, and is the main reason (along with the quality and power of the built-in amp section) why I'm leaning towards also getting an Anthem MRX.

From the below review, they mention an MRX can also work great as a pre-pro (obviously all processing including ARC would still be done before passing the signal to a separate amp - thus they maintain their ARC advantage compared to other receivers and even pre-pros). This had me thinking of combining with an amp like the Parasound 5250 v.2, but maybe that isn't necessary with a speaker system as efficient as the Golden Ears. I'll try to demo more than one of the Anthem MRX receivers and see what difference the power makes between the 300/500/700 when driving the Triton Cinema Two system. I might also ask to demo one of the more powerful NAD separate amps and see if the difference is worth double the price. I'll let everyone know the results once I've done the demo.

So I finally had my listening session.

1. I again compared the Triton Two's to the B&W CM9s and Paradigm Studio 100s. I also briefly listened to the B&W 683s, as a 5.1 system based on them would be closer to the TritonCinema price. I found neither the 683s nor the Studio 100s could stack up to the Triton Two's. The CM9s would sound slightly better with some songs, but not as good with other ones. Ultimately given the large price difference of the complete system, it was a no-brainer to choose the Triton Two's. I have now ordered a set of Triton Two's and will be receiving them in a week or 2.

2. Regarding the receiver/amp choice, I listened to the Anthem MRX 700. It definitely had enough power to achieve the volumes I was looking for, even in a room that was larger than mine. I didn't end up having time to compare to the lower Anthem's or any other receivers, but the quality of the sound was excellent and revealed fine details in most of the songs. Some songs sounded just slightly harsh at very high volumes, perhaps indicating a very slight amount of compression - however this was not present at all in other songs (maybe the Anthem was emphasizing something in the recording rather than compressing). I found out that my previous listening session had been with the NAD T 975 Amp and a NAD pre-amp. I'm going from memory as it was over 3 weeks ago, but I believe the NAD amp sounded a little better overall, without any high volume harshness. But some of the songs sounded truly spectacular on the Anthem, and I don't believe they were any better on the NAD. So it could be a matter of certain frequencies and/or details being handled slightly differently. There definitely seemed to be more bass present when listening with the NAD amp, however with the adjustable bass on the Triton Two's, I should be able to compensate for this. One very important point is that all of this is without ARC. When I get the system set up at home, I will of course run ARC, which is expected to tilt the scales in favor of Anthem.

3. Regarding the center channel selection (not sure if I mentioned this on this thread or another one), I listened to both the SuperSat 50C and the Aon 3. To be specific, the bass management crossover was set to 120hz for the 50C and 80hz for the Aon 3, with only speaker cables connected to the Triton Two's (no sub outs) and with them set to Large/Full Range. The difference was quite noticeable in favor of the Aon 3. The lower registers of male voices were simply not present when using the SuperSat 50C. I listened to the opening scene of Batman The Dark Knight for the comparison. I am going to take both a SuperSat 50C and an Aon 3 home and run ARC twice (with each different center channel) and listen critically after the rest of the system has been set up properly (incl. bass levels). If, after everything is set up, I don't hear as much of a difference and I decide to go with the SuperSat 50C, I will definitely update this thread.

One thing I forgot to mention. Listening to Batman The Dark Knight on Blu-ray with the TritonCinema system and the Anthem MRX 700 was simply stunning and I really don't think I could want more from a home theatre system. For music, a more expensive amp might bring some subtle improvements, but I can't make a final judgement on that until after I run ARC. Given this revelation, I might eventually think about getting a 2 channel amp, but I don't think I need to pursue a 5 channel amp unless I start listening to 5 channel music. The MRX 700 for movies seems to be a home run (at least in combination with the Golden Ear system).
