OK, a new conundrum. I understand the THEORY that in stereo, front speaker only mode, ALL the bass should be directed to those front LARGE speakers, and when I tested SUB ON vs OFF. THERE WAS NO NO DIFFERENCE, . HOWEVER, when I switch to any multi channel mode, I get more bass (only with LFE connected, SUB ON).! I just spent hours at my favorite stereo shop , Audio Sytems in Austin, TX, where I purchased the Goldenear system, listening to both the T757 that I have and the T787 top of the line NAD AVR, and they BOTH drop off bass in stereo mode in LFE/SUB ON mode vs multi channel (or, another way of saying it is that they don't ADD as much bass in stereo mode)l!!! And they both add bass when going to multi channel!!!
OK, we're all confused. Has anyone else had similar experiences with other AVR's? This does not fit with any theory about how bass management is done in receivers. I'm open to any/all input!
As a side note, I've ordered a 2 channel amp to direct front speaker outputs to, but I'm wondering if there is some kind of miscommunication going on between the NAD AVR and the Triton 2's? Is there some kind of confusion on the NAD receiver's part about the separately powered subwoofer in the Triton (how can it know that the LARGE FRONT has it's own amp?.)
I'm back to my earlier recommendation that the safest set up for sub powered Tritons is LFE connected, SUB ON!
Any feedbck appreciated.
