Without having yet heard these beauties, just wanted to say "nice job" in the design and build - they look very nice.

I know (and have heard first hand) that one of the issues inherent with this type of design, is optimal sub placement (or limitations of), due to the built in sub. When designing these speakers, was this issue taken into consideration? Were there any design mods implemented to minimize this issue?

If so, this may be an effective piece of marketing for you, as I know the lack of sub placement flexibility has deterred a few folks away from buying DefTechs (and similar designs).

Just curious, but not a show stopper for me.
Cheers,

Greetings! Thanks for the post and sorry for the late response - start-up hiccups..

Having a built-in subwoofer addresses many fundamental design issues for full-range loudspeakers. It is perhaps best to consider the Triton Two simply as a full range speaker, just like any other large, floorstanding speaker system. The fact that it achieves its bass performance with a high-powered built-in subwoofer rather than through other design options can be ignored (the fact that this yields spectacular bass performance way beyond the speaker's price and size should, of course, not be ignored) :) .

So, just as many will add a stand-alone subwoofer to a system with a full-range, full-size loudspeaker, so too can this be done with a Triton-based system IF one feels the need to add additional bass augmentation - and if so this can certainly allow for placement of the sub in a corner. The room size or desired overall volume levels can necessitate the needed addition of a standalone subwoofer regardless of the bass output of the main speakers - this is especially true in Home Theater setups.

Corner placement of subwoofers is done for one of two reasons: 1) Desire for inconspicuousness, or 2) Desire to maximize output through corner loading of bass frequencies. It is interesting to note that reason 1 is nicely addressed with the built-in subwoofers on the Triton Twos, and item 2 is all about having adequate bass output (if the sub can keep up it doesn't need corner placement - which can also be the WORST for bass fidelity).

Hope this helps, thanks for your interest,

Thanks for your response - it does help. As I said, this issue is anything but a showstopper, just curious to get your input. I will hopefully be demo-ing these speakers as soon as possible (they haven't been delivered to my local dealer as of yet). Wish they'd hurry up - I have money burning a hole in my pocket, and my wife won't let me keep it there for long ;)
Cheers,
