I recently purchased a pair of GE T3s (not 3+) to replace my T7s. It seems that the T3s aren’t as “loud” as the 7s were...does this seem accurate? The low end is much better than the 7s but when I listen at the same levels as the 7s which I could hear clearly across the room and into the kitchen at say -50db I have to have the 3s at -45db to be close to the same volume and that’s after I increased the levels in the receiver up about 2db from the settings of the 7s. I have these connected to my Denon 4300 receiver...the speakers set to small and with LFE connected. Any help would be much appreciated...thank you..Joshua

Hi Joshua

Can you tell us more about your set up? What is the speaker array you are using, do you have an external sub also, is sub on in the Denon settings, etc.

A typical set up for a powered Triton with LFE connected would be as large, full range, sub on. So a bit more about your total set up would be helpful.

There are options to try in any set up.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply...my setup is a 5.1.2
Front T3s
Supercenter XL
Rear T7s
Height Supersats
Sub SVS SB2000
Receiver Denon AVR x4300
Emotiva XPA 2 Powering Front L&R

I hooked up the T3s with LFE and switched the AVR to Large for front L&R and small for everything else. I switched the sub from 1 to 2. 1 sub out to SVS and with a Y splitter the 2nd sub out to the two T3s.

LFE is set at 120 on receiver and calibrated all speaker levels to match. It seems maybe when I switch the speaker config from 1 to 2 subs things become less dynamic...does that sound right? Overall the T3s don’t seem as loud as the 7s but the low end is a huge improvement. Thanks!

Hi

Just curious, are you feeding the system material with .1 channel LFE content?

With the T3's now as large, they should be adding more bass to that set up as you say. Not sure why you'd hear a huge improvement in low end but less dynamics. With the T3'a getting full range feeds now, and both the SVS and T3 now getting crossover feeds from the other speakers set as small, in addition to sub out/LFE, there definitely should be more bass oomph. Going to two sub outs is a good thing, you can now play with gain settings in the Denon separately for the SVS and T3's. You may want to try boosting the gain for either or both sub outs.
It's also easier to balance bass with two sub outs.

Lots of options to try. If the dynamics remain an issue, not sure where you crossed the T3's when set as small, but you could try lower crossovers also, without LFE in case the T3's are working a bit too hard.

Happy listening!

Rick
