I was able to demo the Tritons yesturday and have to say I was quite impressed! I also own a pair of Mythos STs and some Polk 2.3TL's and 3000p's and was surprised how well they compaired considering the $2,500 retail price of the Tritons. Would like to purchase a pair and get rid of the big 2.3TL's but am reluctant to take the plunge at this point as the dealer told me they were having problems with the amps in the ForceField subs. Looking at the specs it looks like the amp in the subs is rated the same as the amp in the Tritons so does this mean there might be a issue with the amps in the Tritons? I know you always run the risk of some sort of problem with purchasing a new item from a new company but I would rather wait a few months for GoldenEar to fix any problems that they might be experiencing than to purchase them now and having a few headaches. Any input on this matter would be appreciated!

Thanks for the kind comments, The Triton Two certainly sets a new standard for performance in the category. Audio this good has never been available for so little.

Unfortunately we did have a problem with the initial release of ForceField subwoofers to dealer showrooms. This was an assembly error that was immediately caught and all subwoofers shipped subsequent to this initial release of dealers' showroom samples have been without issue. All these original dealer showroom samples should have since been replaced or repaired. The Triton Two DOES use the same amplifier technology as the ForceField Subwoofers, but this assembly error problem was not relevant to the very different Triton subwoofer assembly. Other than the unavoidable occasional shipping damage, the first shipments of Triton Twos have been perfect.

Although we are a new company, we bring over 150 years of loudspeaker design and manufacturing expertise to the GoldenEar products. Not only do we pride ourselves in producing exceptionally dependable product utilizing the latest technologies (notwithstanding this early assembly hiccup), as industry veterans we will be there to stand behind and support these products and their proud owners for many years to come.

On the topic of new companies, it is probably worth noting that in the relevant history of high performance loudspeakers virtually ALL of the breakthrough products came from NEW companies, free to develop outside the constraints of their past.

Thanks for the quick reply. Its great to see the customer support at such a high level. Have seen Sandy Gross on other forms helping people out which is definitely not the norm in this business. I'm going to go ahead and order the Triton Cinema Two system even though I have to wait a few weeks to get a hold of the Triton towers. Another question I have is would it hurt the towers at all to use them without the powered subs in use? Sometimes we like to listen to music at low volumes when the kids are asleep and have no need for the extended base that the subs provide. If we were to turn them on and off using a surge protector, could this create a problem? Would they funtion just fine without the subs in use or would you not recommend this setup? Thanks again for your time and support!

Excellent, thank you.

It won't "hurt" to use them without the powered section of the speaker, but they won't be very full-range. I would suggest leaving them powered and if the bass at low listening levels is too much use one of the Dolby "late night" dynamic compression modes on your receiver/processor. Also, low volume listening will reduce the amount of bass you hear disproportionately anyway, so take a listen and experiment before deciding to turn the powered section of the Triton off.
