I've been known to unplug the system as well during storms out of an abundance of caution...

Thanks, Moderator Dude

I have surge protection on everything from power conditioner to whole house to individual outlets where Tritons are connected. But, I have seen personally what close by lightning ground strikes can do to surge past such protection if huge amp overloads enter your home circuitry. Like literally a bright bolt traveling between a refrigerator and a stove right near us after a ground strike. I trust surge protection for day to day power supply mishaps, but 100,000 or more amps heading for my HT and blowing past the surge protection is a bigger risk than I want to take.

Correct, only unplugging and leaving plug far enough from the socket is 100% protection from getting our beloved gear fried. I tried yesterday: few hours warmed up A class amp connected to TRefs , but Sub amps in speakers cold start. Yes, the bass is not as deep and lacks weight compared to warmed up. Not a big difference, so I will stop worrying about it. I think...:)

Thanks for the feedback re your experiment!

You did bring up a good question re powered Triton amps always on, at least as an option. Whenever I turn the system on at least an hour prior to playing (Triton amps shut off after a bit so they aren't warmed when I start playing), it still takes awhile longer to get the full, warm, deep sound I love. I've never quite decided whether that's the DAC and related receiver solid state components and external amp getting further warmed up with use, or the Triton's amps coming into better warm up performance.

Good luck not thinking about it. I try also.

Rick
