I second that suggestion that you look at McIntosh tube amps. They were and still are incredible.

Hi PoisonFush,
Glad you found a Vincent Dealer.
Here is a link you may already have found, a German review of the Vincent SV 237 Mk you remarked on:

What I like about this int. amp is the fact that it combines some of the refinement of tubes (and the ability to roll out the 12AX7 to an even sweeter tube, the 5751) with LOTS of power, almost 250 WPC with Triton Towers, AND the first 10 Watts are pure Class A. The first 10 Watts are what we use and listen to the most, so this makes a HUGE difference in my experience. Class A is the sweet zone of SS amps. This is a real world advantage that you can hear.

I am currently squirrelling away the the pennies and will hopefully be in a position to start auditioning in a few months,

The short list currently is:

1) PrimaLuna Dialogue HP
2) Vincent SV-237
3) Line Magnetic LM501a

and on the SS side, probably still the Musical Fidelity M5si or M6si

I believe GDHAL uses a M6si integrated for his Triton References. May want to check with him.

Yes, I do. Very pleased with the Musical Fidelity M6si. I'd certainly recommend it or the M5si to pair with the Golden Ear's.
