Hi All,

I purchased a set of Triton 1's a while ago and also a Musical Fidelity M6 500i integrated amplifier to drive them. The left channel on the amp died and has gone back to the manufacturer under warranty. The manufacturer has stated that the amp may not be suitable to use with the Tritons as there is a section in the 6500i manual that says that it shouldn’t be used with any speaker that has any internal grounding.

Does the Triton 1 have an internal grounding?

I bought this amp based on the recommendation of the dealer.

Any help is appreciated. Cheers.

The manufacturer is wrong, there is nothing about driving the Tritons that is any different than any other hi-fi component loudspeaker when connected to the speaker terminals only. There is no internal grounding, no external grounding either.

Thanks for your help. I was beginning to think they were going to use this as an excuse to void my warranty on the amp!! Speaking of which, are there any amps that you have matched with the 1's that you can highly recommend? I was thinking of the new Peachtree Nova 300/500 when they arrive on the scene.

praljak, I have particular interest in this thread because my gear is nearly identical to yours. I recall your post some time back. I have the T1s and also have a Musical Fidelity amp. However, I have an M6si which I purchased last December, basically the same time I got the Tritons. I do not regret either purchase as I’m very happy with the Golden Ears and the Musical Fidelity individually and in “system combination” with one another. I know that GET has great customer service and would hope/expect that MF does as well. You can contact Randy Bingham the National Sales manager (This email address is being protected from spambots. And BTW, I just double checked this... there is nothing in the M6si or M6500i manual that states anything about not using it with speakers that have internal grounding. The closest thing possible is in the troubleshooting section for "Hum from speakers" in which it is stated "Some esoteric cables have internal wiring intentionally disconnected/modified. For best results on all inputs analogue AND digital, please use good quality screened coax; signal and screens both separately connected at both ends. "

How cow, that Musical Fidelity M6 500i looks really nice. BTW, if you look at the plug on the back of the Tritons, they have 2 prongs, not 3, so I think that also tells the story about the grounding. I'm not sure where that MF tech might have been coming from.
