Greetings,

I recently purchased the supercinema 3 system, I really enjoy the sound. I have it coupled with a pioneer elite receiver and the sound is really quite impressive. I was wondering what the benefit of the Supersat 50 speakers are. I was contemplating returning the front speakers and exchanging them for the supersat 50. Are they worth the extra $$$?

They are very similar, but the SuperSat 50 is a "better" speaker:

- Better LF extension so it will play louder, lower than the SuperSat 3
- Due to above, better mating with an off-axis subwoofer
- Aerospace aluminum chassis instead of marble-infused polymer
- Better choice for larger rooms and higher volumes (and a better cosmetic match with larger TV's)

Very informative post!

Could you also give a similar distinction between the 50s and the new 60s?

The SuperSat 60s are more similar to the 50s than the 50s are to the 3s, the SuperSat 60 and 60C were conceived to fill the void due to the ever-growing average size of flat panel TV's. Visually, the SuperSat 50 and 50C look too small when used with the growing-in-popularity 60" and 65" TV's. And, with the idea that bigger TV's often mean bigger spaces, we also took the opportunity to make the new SuperSat 60 more powerful by adding two more active drivers. It is a larger alternative for those who want it. In a very large room with the desire for very high playback volumes, the SuperSat 60C handles more power at low and mid frequencies.

Thanks for the information,

What is the recommended crossover frequency for the 60s?

Well, I splurged and went to exchange the supersat 3's for the supersat 50's. I noticed a great improvement in the sound. It sound much more open and full. The imaging seems to be much better with the 50's. These are some serious speakers. I am very happy that I chose goldenear. I will be enjoying these for years to come. Hopefully when I move into a bigger space I can get a pair of triton twos (or ones if they ever release)
