My new GE Triton one.r’s and SC ref will arrive Friday . They replace my Triton 2’s and SC xl. Will be using the 2’s for rear surrounds to replace SS 50’s. I have 4 HTR 7000 in ceiling and rest of surrounds are SS 50’s. I also have two HSU subwoofers. All in a dedicated theater. I’m sure I will be spending a lot of time on setup and sub integration. I have the Marantz8802a and two Sunfire amps.
Any suggestions for crossovers ? Assume I will need to set the one.r’s to large? Any other suggestions? Will be using Y splitters to connect all subs to LFE.

Congratulations Fred!

That should be an awesome set up!

Re speaker settings, can you run LFE to the T2’s also that are being moved to surrounds? I have Triton fronts and surrounds, all LFE connected, all set as large, sub on. Bass is amazing. In your case you have potentially 6 subs, with the1.R’s, T2’s and two external subs. Whatever you do to set up the surround T2’s whether with LFE leads or not, I’d try setting all Tritons as large. The T2’s and 1.R’s have plenty of bass prowess.

I have my SC Ref at 80 HZ now. It’s happy there or at 60 HZ. Really plays well with the newer Reference technology Tritons. A perfect match.

I assume you have your SS 50’s crossovers already set, maybe in the 100-120 HZ range?

Have fun!!!!

Rick

Hi Rick. Yes, all six subs will be wired via LFE. I was smart enough when my theater was constructed to run plenty of rca cables through the walls and over the ceiling down to my AVP. Still using a lot of splitters. Will be interesting to see how I can get all six tuned. I have an SPL meter plus REW and the mic. My room is 23 wide, 30 long with an average ceiling height of 11. ( 10 foot ceiling with half being a recessed tray 12 inches higher. Two rows of theater seats that are tiered, so part of the ceiling from the second row back is about 9 feet. Ceiling to wall ratio for acoustics is not ideal, but I have a lot of treatment with bass traps in all the corners. Going to have a fun weekend playing with my new toys. The best Blu Ray for testing audio is “ Hans Zimmer- Live in Prague”. If you like good music, this one is it. Will attach some pictures when all is finished.

Hey Fred

Thanks for the recommendation, I just added “Live in Prague” to my Amazon shopping list!

Speaking of music, you have all the right gear to use Atmos Dolby Surround to upmix 2.0 or 5.0 or 5.1 etc. music to all your channels including heights. I think Dolby hit a home run with their new surround format.

Happy listening!

Rick

So, I got the One.R’s and Ref center hooked up. Moved the two’s as rear surrounds then ran Audyessy. I immediately noticed a big difference with the center. A lot more clarity. With the four Tritons and two HSU subs, I had to turn the bass way down, about 9 o’clock on the tritons. On some of the lower frequencies I have a loud standing wave.
I have REW and the mic. I’ll run some graphs to see what is going on. Has anyone used minidsp 2x4 to manage the subs? Maybe I need to take the HSU’s out of the system. The GE’s are certainly going very low and providing plenty of bass.

Also, Audyssey will not allow me to set the surround rear to large. The options are small or none. Any ideas?
