I picked up some Mogami Gold XLRs today for my 2-channel setup. I've read a lot of great things about these cables. It's a bit too early to give a thorough opinion. They definitely sound different than the Monoprice cables I've been using. They seem a bit more forgiving so I thought I would test that opinion out on Kind of Blue. It's a great album in terms of music but there were a lot of production/mastering issues. Sure enough, the issues with the recording are there but they are drawing less attention to themselves.
The cymbals are still open and airy, the bass present, and all the detail is there. The brass may be a bit less dynamic. I'll have to let my ears acclimate to the change and do some back and forth between the two cables to determine which is better. For now, I'll just enjoy the music!
Fed Ex is bringing my first shipment of GIK Acoustics treatments tomorrow. I've got two of their 244 Bass Traps coming to see if I can get rid of some of the suck out I'm getting around 100 and 200 Hz. While I'll likely have to place about three more orders to finish everything up, I should have a good idea how things are going to proceed with the first shipment. My fingers are crossed. I'll definitely start a separate thread when I have more to share.
Cheers,
T Cobe
P.S. Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

I haven't heard the Anti-Cable interconnects, but I would be willing to lend T Cobe a Reference power cord to try with his sources, just to find out what he thought vs. stock and Pangea cords. My impression remains that the the Anti-Cable power cords bring another level of smoothness and detail to any source, like plugging in an even better DAC.

Sorry for the delayed response, Gents. I was at a memorial service this evening. This has been a tough year.
I'm definitely interested in trying out Anti-Cables. I'd like to try their audio and power cables at some point. Their cable design has struck a chord with me since I first heard of them years ago. You guys are awesome! The fact that you would be willing to send me your cables to try is very generous, but I would be afraid of the cables being lost or damaged in the process. My first purchase from them will likely be a power cable. At $330, I think it's still very reasonable. Based on my experience thus far and your feedback, I'm confident it would be an improvement.
Anthem, the 6.2s are RCA and too rich for my blood right now. I do like the look of their XLRs and would like to try some silver based on the feedback you and Wayne have given on silver wire. I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed with the Mogami Gold cables. For $200, I was expecting more. As of right now, I think I like the sound of my Monoprice XLRs better. I think the primary difference is the size of the conductors and the Monoprice wires are a bigger AWG. I may try to return the Mogamis.
The GIK panels arrived today and I played around with them for a bit. While running quick measure in ARC, I moved the panels around and I could see the variation in response based on the different positions. I think my biggest problem areas are the corners in the front of my room where my T1s are situated. When I held the bass trap in the upper half of the corner of the walls, the response curve really flattened out. My first reflection points made a difference as well. I'll experiment a little more tomorrow, but I think acoustic treatments will dominate my budget for the next several weeks. Once I have those in place, it will be time to address the cables.
Thanks again, Anthem and Rick, for the generous offer. You guys are great and I'm very appreciative of your trust that this demonstrates! I'll definitely be getting around to the Anti-Cables.
Cheers,
T Cobe

Hey TCobe:
When things settle down, and you still have a desire to hear the Anti-Cable Level 6.2's, just say the word and I will send them your way for a month. If Rick's Reference 3 powercord offer still stands, it would be great if we could coordinate both cables at the same time. You would be hearing close to what I'm hearing, minus the Torii tubes. Again...just say the word.
By the way...Rick and I will need your social security, and credit card #, plus your mother's maiden name, and where you go to church (need to talk to your pastor)...
