Hi guys,

Running triton reference as mains, four invisia in ceiling and two MPX as surrounds. I have a 5.2.4 setup and currently have a reference center which I love. However my cabinets were installed forcing my TV much higher then I wanted and it is ruining movies for me. My solution is to get a mantle mount to lower it. However my TV, which will eventually be 85 inches, will be in front of my center.

I have two solutions:

1) I physically take the center out of the “shelf” it sits on in the cabinet and put it on a stand and then put it back when the movie is over.

2) I use a supersat 60c as a center mounted on the mantle mount.

How offensive would this be? Would it blend well with my awesome mains?

Photo shows TV. It is much higher then it appears roughly 49 inches to the very bottom.

Tough choices, Gutcheck! Giving up the SuperCenter Ref and it's amazing audio fit with the T Ref's to get a better, lower, video portion of the a/v experience.....

Having had SuperSat 50C, SuperCenter Xl, XXl and now Ref center channel speakers, there IS a difference. I would want to look at every way possible to keep the SC Ref as the center. A new shelf above the lowered tv with speaker aimed down at the MLP, a movable bracket or stand, etc.

Just my opinion. I'd look really hard to find a way to keep the Ref center.

I was afraid you would say that. Does such a thing as a retractable lowering speaker shelf exist? I have this feeling I’m going to be moving it in and out for years....

I guess I'd check with bracket/mount suppliers to see if some kind of bracket with a wall mount or as you say, retractable lowering speaker shelf could be made to work. Lugging the Ref center back and forth to and from the current shelf every time you watch a movie would get pretty tiresome I would guess.

Another option would be to have my installer create a cubby behind the TV exposing the speaker when the TV was dropped. But that means it would be behind the TV when it’s up. Also my plans are to replace that sett with. Larger one so it would have to be pretty high....

I'll throw in my two cents here as support. I completely agree with Rick. I have a Triton reference system and a seperate Triton 1 system with a Subsat 50c. Although the sound of the 50c is similar (especially the mid and high frequencies) to the Triton 1, the XXL which I also have and the Reference center make a much better center channel. The sound is much fuller and "cleaner". Because of this voices in particular have a much more natural quality. Also, the ability to play loud cleanly would be a big advantage of the reference center. I would make every effort to try and keep the reference center.

Maybe this is a stupid thought but have you thought about putting it above the tv?
